What Amiga games have withstood the test of time?

I'm not talking about your favorite nostalgic game that brings back heart warming memories from 1986. Barbarian blew the doors off anything graphically at the time and I played it for hours but 30 years later, this 5 fps game won't cut it. And that load time...

I'm talking about games like Lemmings, Worms, Arkanoid, etc... even today are just as fun and really couldn't be improved upon even if it ran on the fastest gaming computer today.

What other games come to mind? One game per post so we get the cream of the crop!

Outrun, of course... ;-)

Kidding..

For me, the first game I install on any Amiga I get/rebuild is MegaBall (or MegaBall AGA).
I still have so much quick fun with that game. ;-)

Superfrog

I just always wonder how good it still looks and how well it plays, a perfect platformer.

All Terrain Racing

The speed, the playability, the graphics, the feel of eternal progress when you learn it, wouldn't change about anything in it.

SlamTilt

Just a perfect flipper game that gets even new players impressed and hooked still today.

First that comes to mind is Speedball 2 Brutal Dleuxe.
None of the modern ports have come closer to the high playability of the Amiga version.

Also No Man's Land (Pd game).

Lionheart
The Misadventures of Flink

Mainly because the 2D pixel gfx of Henk Nieborg are amazing coupled with Erwin Kloibhofer's ability to get more colours on screen the two are winners.

Alien Breed. Probably the best Amiga game ever. Hard but well balanced. Good graphics, great soundtrack and atmosphere.

I have to agree, ATR is the most future-proof game I can think of.

Challenging but well balanced with good progression, great artwork/GFX/SFX/Music/track design/terrain/multiplayer, tight controls, upgrades and pickups affect gameplay perfectly, optimised floppy loading (2nd disk loads tracks only and is the score save disk).

Only cons i can think of:
- No hard disk installer (WHDload is ok, or cd version works on HD).
- 2 buttons not utilised (up= for rockets in 2P I think)

[edit] oh, and it's exclusive

Civilization. The fundamental concept was still present in Civilization VI when it was released twenty five years afterwards.

(I know that it's a DOS game converted to the Amiga)

Speaking of which, it is a good opportunity to remember everyone that since there is an edit button, members should avoid making several posts each after the other ("back-to-back" posts). Even if it seems a smart way to bypass nolunchman's rule (like jPV did).

For me it is Lionheart.

IMHO it shows what Amiga is capable to do, with great music and great visuals.

(SuperFrog if close second)

I love Settlers still, and we play it occasionally with two players, but its graphics is quite crude for your eyes today. It takes a while to adjust you to the rough pixels and in two player mode the view is very limited. Some higher resolution version would do miracles with that...
