I dont get the negativity either, 99.9% of the scene is completely awesome!

Have you drawn inspiration from any other games in particular, Rastan or Shadow of the Beast, for instance?

Long time no news here:

Here we go again:

I show off the game starting up to the first mid boss and a bit on.
Game runs on a smooth 50fps and uses only 512k/512k with vanilla machine speed. No accelerator needed.
Please forgive a few of the glitches that are still seen, this is heavy WIP at the moment.
Music and SFX are muted in this little presentation, since I will work on this later on in one big batch.
Please switch on the "1080p60fps" quality option in your Youtube viewer, so you can see how smooth this runs.
Game will be released late in November.

Love the name of the game Would be a nice touch if the bouncing heads would leave a blood puddle on the floor Looks really smooth indeed

Looks really good.

Do the heads keep bouncing at same height permanently?

I'd suggest the bounce lowers after each bounce, then a short roll and then head stops.

Bouncing heads remind me of the bouncing balls in ik+ bonus round

Oh wow, well done man!!
When I first saw the video I was under the impression this was still meant to be AGA. Was quite surprised to read you made it for OCS after all!

Is this dual playfield?
I'd guess player and the sword UI above are both sprites, right?
Overall quite impressive stuff!

Yep, tricking a bit with the copper here and there to make it look more colourful than it actually is...

This looks fab on the video. I'm guessing there's not much blood as there isn't a pen left for red? And purple blood would be a bit Klingon...

I'm getting Metal Slug feels from it for some reason (not a bad thing, must mean it's more Neo Geo like than Amiga-like!)

Yep, that's the reason.
Tricking already like crazy to get the colors I have on the screen right now.
I had an earlier version running with red blood, but one color less for the enemies, and it didn't look good.

I spent a lot of time analyzing what makes SNK games look the way they are. Especially the way they use palettes in the foreground and background etc.
