NBS presentation screen preview

Hello,

Here are some new info about "New Bubble Story".

[ Show youtube player ]

This is a preview of the game presentation screen.
You can see the main screen drawn by Mike and hear a piece of the excellent music (sorry for the sound quality of the video) composed by Maze. It's a cover of the main music that Ixien composed for "Super bubble remix" an Amiga 68020+ we designed 25 years ago.

I tried to animate the presentation a bit. I I'll probably try to improve this further.
It's only a brief overview not quite final. Feel free to say what you think about it.

Bye.

Happy New Year 2021

Hi,

You can see a preview of New Bubble Story in a demo (in the sense of demoscene) released yesterday night.
Here is a link to pouet.net (which contains a link to an adf or to a youtube vid) :
https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=87666

So the idea was to report on what I had done on Amiga this year : coding NBS (in progress) and demoscene effects.

The showed (not playable) level is the seventh. For the demo purpose, I remove the panel at the bottom of the screen and all the samples (because the music is a 4 channels one in the case of the demo).

You can run this prod on your (real) Amiga so this is the first official preview of the game. The demo is runnable on a standard A500 (512K/512K) like the game will be.

Here is the direct link to the ADF :

Happy New Year 2021 :-)

Hi Amigans,

Another appearance of my favorite ghost in our latest published demo:

I promise the next release will be a real preview of the game ;-)

News of april

Here are some news about the project.

The development is going well and I think I can meet the goal of the end of 2021 for the end of the game development.

Here are some things since the last update:

- integration of music written by mAZE (thx) in the levels.
The preferred sound mode is for a given level a music on 3 channels and sound effects (about 15 samples) on one channel. Two other modes are available: only sound effects or no sound at all.
There are currently 4 musics made (except menu, highscore etc). For example, level 1 plays the music "Even bubbles dance", level 2 "Lazy bubble stroll". Level 3 plays the first one again and level 4 the second one. From level 5 on a third music is played. The musics cycle but I add in the cycle new musics as the player progresses.

- Beginning of the implementation of the second "world" (level 17 to 32).
8 levels have been defined out of the 16 that make up the second world and are currently being set up. Here is an example of level 17 created under Tiled.

As a reminder there are 24 levels divided into 2 worlds. The first world is in beta. The second world is in development with 8 levels so in progress.

The next update will be a video (I hope by the summer)

See you next time

I love this project, and also really liked the original bubble ghost on the ST back in the day.. (actually found it a bit surreal and spooky as a kid despite mostly cute stuff in it) this is one hell of a audio-visual leap. Good luck with the remaining levels!

Thanks Mixel.

Indeed the original one of 1987 was a bit more fantastic. This new version is more cartoon even if there are some strange things like laser, teleporter, radioactive water among standard castle traps and bats. A little story (provided in the manual) will "explain" that :-)

By the way, I follow also your project which is nice.

Bubble Ghost isn't that hard to control once you're used to it..

Though that does look like an incredibly tough level!

Probably a bit difficult but :
- it is level 16/24, so the player is experienced in controlling the bubble at this stage
- it is not mandatory to collect all bonuses in this level (and in all levels). If the player collects all bonuses, he will be rewarded (bonuses unlock a secret) but the level can be finished without it.

wip october 2023

Some news :

- New option/menu pages have been implemented with the introduction of a shop. A video will probably be done in the new weeks

- The game levels are currently being fine-tuned at leat until the end of the year.

Option pages

New little video of the final menu / option pages :

[ Show youtube player ]

this is a near-final version of the game menu, replacing the 2020 version.
The menu includes numerous options, a shop for unlocking items that are either interesting for the gameplay or just plain fun.
Progress save, gameover sequence and end of game are implemented.

The great presentation page seen in the 2020 video, which will be the visual for the physical box, is retained and displayed during game loading (not shown in the video).

Further development will involve polishing the 25 levels already developed.

A further video, probably in a few months' time, will present the final version of the game itself.
