Dune2 in WinUAE with Aros ROM

Ok, I tried Dune 2. Works with KS3.0 but not Aros. (WinUAE 2.3.3, Aros 20120115)

Disks 1&2 in FDDs: WinUAE loops forever with Aros, when it should ask for disk 5
Disks 1,2,3&5, WinUAE plays split second of intro and reboots. No dump.

You should know that only listing name of the program is as useless as not listing it at all (Original? Which region if there was multiple releases? Crack? Which crack? and so on..)

Also make sure you do not use A500 like memory configuration (1M or less) when booting non-trackloading programs because currently m68k aros needs more memory than AOS.

Dune 2 uses AmigaDOS for loading/running.

Dune II (pre-release)(M3)[cr DNX]

A1200 standard config, only 24bit addressing unchecked to make it the same machine as for KS3.0

I hope that's the info you need. More memory does not help.

I didn't find that version but final release triggers audio.device crash. (which was fixed yesterday, now mouse cursor appears, without any other graphics..)

btw, remember to use -seriallog command line parameter, it enables logging of AROS serial debug output.

Game shows black screen because struct Bitmap is using RTG like structure (no real plane pointers) even when using native planar mode.

AROS of course does support normal bitmap structures but driver code assumes all graphics drivers are RTG-like (Amiga chipset driver is very special case, extra code needed just to handle this. I am sure most other AROS coders are annoyed ) Anyway, some changes needed.

This most likely breaks many (sort of) system friendly games that open standard intuition screen but write directly to screen's bitmap.

Aros aim is to be compatible with AmigaOS 3.1. Why would somebody in his clear mind get annoyed if you made it more compatible? M68k branch is the best thing that could happen to Aros. Kickstart replacement will soon be the most widespread Aros distro.

Toni, can you remind me to do this when I finish the AHCI and printer.device support?

(I post this there, just to let people know that I *do* plan to fix this, but it's in the queue behind outstanding AROS bounties I'm signed up for)
