Best Game Intro
I just had a quick go @ Captive 2 & I had forgotten how brilliant the introduction to the game was (Howd they manage to squeeze it all on a few floppies?) ,Anyway does anyone else have a favourite Introduction scene from a game that they wish to share?
I can start with Captive 2, Syndicate & Wolfchild (that intro rocks) to name but three... |

Cool Intros
Liberation is one of the best intros I've seen on the Amiga. Other notable intros are:
The Settlers Frontier: Elite II Beneath a Steel Sky Theme Park Soccer Kid I can't think of anymore right now. |

Everyone knows Another World has the best intro!
Speaking of Shadow of the Beast II, does someone happen to have the 3 disk version with the FULL intro in their midst? The copies spread about the internet have only the last 2 disks which lose out on half the intro where the sorcerer guy morphs into the gigantic crow thing. I remember having to swap disks half way through. |

@§ane
I remember this thing being discussed on another board as well, seems that the intro disk got a weird copy protection and cannot be adf´ed, but it may be possible to use Disk2FDI for getting it to work at least in WinUAE ..... erm ..... as I have mentioned the Intro, I´m pretty sure I saw the complete Intro so I maybe have the 3 disk version hiding somewhere, I´ll have a closer look then .... |

I didn't know about that 3 disk version!
And being Beast 2 one of my favourites games on the Amiga, it must be great to see the 'full' intro !
I agree!, Another World has the best intro! The first time I saw it , I was amazed for that great graphics and animations! I like the intro of SWOS too , it's a nice song! |

A couple of Intro's I'd like to add to the list-
Superfrog-check out & boot up Disk 3 to see the "full" intro! Cannon Fodder-although it doesn't have any fancy visuals, I've always admired the clever song arrangement which perfectly set the atmosphere of what was ahead. Cruise For a Corpse-Strange how Delphine keep cropping up here isn't it!! Says a lot for them really!! |

All the intro songs from Sensible games are great
I like the intro of most Core games, Premiere, Wolfchild, Chuck Rock.. even Jaguar XJ220 has a nice short intro... Micro Mortal Tennis has a hilarious intro... and Another World indeed is the most fantastic intro ever |

The intro of 4 seasons and Penguins might not be flashy or especially well made, but they had their funny parts.
I actually thought Penguinis looked fairly good, unfortunately I never got past the title screen before the game crashed. |

Four more great Amiga intros
When I think of great Amiga intros, Another World is the best.
Some intros I would like to add to the aforementioned games in this thread: Air Support: Psygnosis 3D wireframe flightsim has a great intro with raytraced stealthfighters leaving docks. Star Dust: Star Wars style 3D-scrolling intro with a nice raytraced spaceship flying into the screen at the end; PlanetSide: This Psygnosis game turned out to be Combat Air Patrol. The Planetside demo could be found on the same CD as CDTV Lemmings. It has some stealths flying above a desert. I have watched this demo once on CDTV and I almost wanted to buy this machine; Microcosm: That 18 minute style intro of this CD32 really rocks. Pity most images are too dark. I don't know what the intro was about but I was amazed. Drake_1009: which game are you referring to? Idea software's Crazy Seasons? |

DOH - I missed a couple more
How could I forget these two stunning intros from the CD32 versions. These are two of the best Amiga intros ever.
Alien Breed: Tower Assault CD32 - Team17 mini movie starring marcus dyson (ex AF editor). It's about 7 minutes long or something like that. I've seen very little of this one though. Roadkill CD32 - Stunningly fast moving rendered intro. Very well made. I've only seen this one once at a computer club. I hope to watch it again one day. Anyone remember anymore CD32 classic intros? |

That Lotus 2 voice is pure evil! How did you first discover it, bootson?
Another World gets my vote- I really loved the dark, almost cyberpunk, mood of the intro. Its funny-I used to adore intros back then. I used to boot up games just to watch them. These days, intros and cinematics are so rife that I usually skip them and get on to the game, except if they are really special. Its as if they have been overdone somewhat. |

Another cool intro - Birds of Prey!
Gotta love that dogfight. Took a while to load up though. But, I once discovered by accident that if you wanted to get to the game and skip the intro, you could just put disk 2 in the drive, and voila- no intro, straight to simulation. I guess the entire intro was on disk 1. |

Sane, I remember the thread in AEN board. I will repeat here what I said there, that the opening to "Campaign" 1993, by Empire games, is incredible. The tension of the German tanker (who until recently was my avatar because he had an uncanny resemblance to me) as he waits for support from fighter jets, the music, rendering, art work, etc is incredible, breathless, and stunning in an understated way. Perfectly sets mood for the game, a wargame set in WW2 .
I will use your AVI winUAE to rip the mod, Sane! |
