Lemmings 2 The Tribes - NOT original disk 3 not working?

Hi there!
I spent a lot of time in the past days trying all the NOT original versions of disk 3 of Lemmings 2 The Tribes and, in my opinion, they are all defective.

If you start the game from NOT original disk 1 (intro), you are asked to insert disk 2 (this is also bootable, and NOT original) and after that, you arrive at the game menu where you are asked to insert disk 3.

Every time I used a NOT original disk 3 and I just selected "play" I were stuck at the first "beach" level. It doesn't matter how you complete the level, you can't go further to level 2.

Using the original disk 3 this doesn't happen and after having completed level 1 you can play level 2 and so on (actually I just got to level 3 that it is already quite difficult for me).

Does anyone already noticed this behavior?
Is there somewhere a cracked disk 3 that actually does work?

PS:
It seems that if you boot directly form disk 2 skipping the intro this bug doesn't occur... that's even more weird...

there aren't many, actually:

* [ADF] Lemmings 2 - The TRIBES (1993)(Psygnosis)(Disk 3 of 3)
* [ADF] Lemmings 2 - The TRIBES (1993)(Psygnosis)(Disk 3 of 3)[cr FLT]
* [ADF] Lemmings 2 - The TRIBES (1993)(Psygnosis)(Disk 3 of 3)[cr FLT][b checksum error]

It doesn't matter which disk 1 you use, at least it seems so to me. The bug doesn't appear if you boot from disk 2.
I'd appreciate it If you or someone else could find some time to try and see if the bug is reproducible.
Thanks in advance.

Disk 3 is where the original has it's copylock track, maybe a bad copylock crack?

I can't remember exactly but perhaps 15-20 yrs ago I think I had the same problem and noticed that there were certain assets/folders that were common over each disk (sound effects or music perhaps) and on one disk the contents were corrupt so I copied them from a good disk to the bad disk and it all the worked.

As soon as I have a moment I can compare the original disk 3 with one of the not original disks.
Has anyone reproduced the bug yet?

[ADF] Lemmings 2 - The TRIBES (1993)(Psygnosis)(Disk 3 of 3)

Apart from Track 0 Side 1 (copylock track) it is identical to my Original Disk 3.

Thanks for checking BarryB.
Did you have the chance to test if starting from disk 1 you are able to play the second level of the "Beach" scenery (the one that you get just clicking on play).

I checked my L2Tribes (.DMS) (Fairlight cracked), started from disk1 and got to level 6 of 'Beach' scenery without problems.

@AmiClassic
Thanks for checking, could you upload in the zone your dms files or tell me where I can get them from?
I'll test them as soon as possible and I'll report here if they work for me as well.
Thanks in advance!

Converting these .DMS files in "ADF-Workshop" reveals that these have the same CRC32s as these .ADFs:

... Lemmings 2 - The Tribes (1993)(Psygnosis)(Disk 1 of 3)(Intro)[cr FLT].adf
... Lemmings 2 - The Tribes (1993)(Psygnosis)(Disk 2 of 3)(Game)[cr FLT][bootable].adf
... Lemmings 2 - The Tribes (1993)(Psygnosis)(Disk 3 of 3)[m bamcopy].adf

I wouldn't use "Lemmings 2 - The Tribes (1993)(Psygnosis)(Disk 3 of 3)[m bamcopy].adf" but instead "Lemmings 2 - The Tribes (1993)(Psygnosis)(Disk 3 of 3).adf".

Thanks for the files, I'll download them later at home.

@vulture
I did try "Lemmings 2 - The Tribes (1993)(Psygnosis)(Disk 3 of 3).adf" and I wasn't able to go further "Beach level 1".

I'm starting to think that it could depend from disk 1 as well or from a combination of disk 1 and disk 3...

That's why I don't like TOSEC, because different releases were mixed up there and sometimes it's hard to guess which disk is in which set. I prefer copies of BBS archives on CD.

P.S. Look at date of these DMS, in 6 days they'll be 28 years old
