Why not both?
Have a V1200 in my 1200 (obviously ), and am interested in PiStorm 68K for my 1000. |

Regarding the topic I think PiStorm have a big problem with classic support. The problem is chip ram access. Last edited by nikosidis; 06 November 2021 at 08:15. |

CDTV with PiStorm/Pi 3A+
Here's a SysInfo speed test of my CDTV, after I installed my recently purchased PiStorm.
What you get for such a *very* reasonable price - hi speed, wi-fi, 128, 256 or even more fast RAM, sd card reader, USB port, ethernet if you use a B model, graphics in hi res with RTG through HDMI.... I definitely think it's worth considering for those who want to upgrade their Amiga! B-) Downside is, I can't use my SCSI devices for the time being, but a future firmware update for the CPLD as well as the soon-to-come extended ROM 2.35 should solve that problem. |

I do look forward to the day the implement the bus arbitration stuff on the CDTV, so that I can use my SCSI card and CD-ROM drive again. Haha :-D |

Here is a little showcase of the latest emu68 barebone version of pistorm.
I selected some FPS's for the showcase. It currently gets 833 MIPS. This is running on RTG from an PFS3 partition on the SD card. [ Show youtube player ] |

Has anyone tried a Pi Zero 2W instead of the Pi 3A? It's smaller form factor would make it a great choice?
Also, is there a PPC Amiga emulator for ARM? I'f hear that PPC emulation on ARM is faster that on x86, and it would open up some demand for AmigaOS 4.x. |

If this MiniMig+PiStorm setup gets AGA (photo stolen from other forum) than Vampire is obsolete from my point of view:
And IMHO it has a chance to become an ultimate Amiga-compatible machine in the future. |

It seems soon there will be no need for Linux - I suppose Emu68k will boot in no-time.

Biggest challenge now is to fix the timing issues.

The thing I like most about this project is that it's not using it's own custom instruction set. I've always thought the best approach for a modern recreation of the classics was to use an FPGA to recreate the chipset and a real CPU to be a CPU We also need to consider that post 100 MIPS there is very little software that will benefit (even mine!), post 300 MIPS there will only be web browsing. |

The DOS version of Tomb Raider runs at about 2 frames per second on my Vampired A600, via PC Task. I want at least 10 frames per second, so unless someone ports it to the Amiga PiStorm is the only way - assuming they get the FPU going (if they don't then it's useless to me).

Regarding DOSBox... it runs ok-ish on 800 MIPS. You can have around 4000 cycles with 2 skipped frames. Not all games run though because there are still bugs, not sure if CPU or FPU related. So not really ideal.
PC Task 4.4 runs ok, unfortunetly EMM386 cannot be loaded yet (again not sure because of what, since DOS4GW runs without problems). Tomb Raider 1 runs in only a few fps. |
