Where is the floppy LED connector on my Amiga 2000?
Silly question, but for the life of me, I can't find the connector for the floppy LED on my Amiga 2000 (rev4.1).
Since I haven't used this in over 20+ years, I don't ever remember if it was even connected when I got it. On the front of my Amiga, it has two LED's marked "Power" and "Hard Drive". I don't have a HD so I thought I would just use it for the floppy LED instead. Am I missing something? Thanks! |

The Floppy-LED is on the floppy itself. The HDD-Led is only for harddrives. So there is not such a thing like a Floppyconnector.

Ah, I thought that might have been the case but I don't see the LED on the drive itself (I did actually look) so either it's broken or missing.
Thanks! |

If you remove the cover of the floppy you will see the led:

Thanks, but my Amiga 2000 is missing the floppy cover (currently trying to locate one).
It's also missing the eject thumb button. So that explains why I don't see it. It's in the cover. :-) |

Ah, I could fix that. I didn't notice it when I was cleaning the drive.
Still wished I could find a face plate and eject button. My Amiga 2000 looks like someone smiling with a front tooth missing. lol |

For a button, we could design the button and 3D print it. The floppy face plate is more complicated.
If someone had an exact color match, we could spray paint the 3D cover. |

I really want to get a 3D printer for that very purpose. I have lots of little projects like that. I also need the front cover for my Amiga 1000.

There’s a good selection of replacement parts on Shapeways (including a floppy faceplate and the A1000 RAM cover)—just search for Amiga. I can’t speak to the quality of the models and the manufacturing, but the option is there.

Looks like you have an internal drive that is for installation in an Amiga 500, 600, or 1200. These drives were supplied with the drive faceplate and drive activity LED missing.
There is an article on converting PC drives for amiga use https://amigaalive.blogspot.com/p/hardware-using.html |
