A1200 crash after PCMCIA network connection
I have a particular problem with my EasyNet PCMCIA network card (which is a 3Com, under the sticker): I connect to the internet without problems, but after a very short time (usually less than a minute) my Amiga 1200 crashes with a black screen; then it goes in Guru after reboot (but this could be the PCMCIA reset bug, I don't care).
What can it be in your opinion? Same symptoms with both Miami and Roadshow, so it doesn't seem to depend on the stack in use. The power supply is new, a CoolerMaster Elite V3. The Amiga hasn't been recapped, but it doesn't show problems until I don't connect it to the network |

Does it Have a ram expansion? anything over I think 5.5mb can conflict with the pcmcia which can cause issues?
Accelerators with 030s are usually ok as they map ram to avoid the conflict. |

You can maybe use something like SYSINFO, which will show the mapped memory addresses of everything attached to your Amiga.
It could be that your ram expansion is conflicting with your PCMCIA card, but that might not reveal itself until more ram is used and then the conflict happens. |

I had exactly the same issue on a 1D4 Mobo using a D-Link DFE-670TXD.
Go to Aminet & download these two files: https://aminet.net/package/util/boot/CardReset https://aminet.net/package/util/boot/CardPatch Edit your startup-sequence after Setpatch. Worked perfectly for me. *Edit* After copying files to C: & editing your startup-sequence, power the Amiga off & remove the PCMCIA NIC. Power up without the NIC in place & then plug in after hitting desktop. |

It’s normally the luck of the draw. Most of the PCMCIA network card drivers come with “card reset” and “Card Patch” and can be initialised when the card driver is started. So be careful you aren’t running this twice Also it could be down to the PCMCIA card chipset and it doesn’t play nice with your Amiga. Have got such a card which on paper should work but can cause the Amiga to Fritz out, even on my Chucky Hertell revision 1.5 Re-Amiga board which already has the PCMCIA fix initiated on to it. |

Never saw any "Squirrel SCSI issues" on several Board revisions or had to run this CardPatch other than for a NIC on this 1D4 i currently own. & yes.... Your mileage may vary from one "PCMCIA NIC" manufacturer to another.... Luck of the Draw? - No such thing for Engineers. |
