"The Amega" 1MB sidecar not recognized

So I got an "Amega" 1MB sidecar that I've not used before. When I plugged it into the 1000 it isn't being recognized. Is there something I'm supposed to do for it to pick up the extra memory?

Here's a screenshot:

This may be one of those non-auto-configuring expansions that needs to use an addmem command to manually add the memory to the free memory list. A number of early A1000 expansions (as well as some A500 expansions) needed this, as it was simpler to build a dumb RAM board without including a ROM to automatically configure the memory.

Also earlier versions of Kickstart don't have AutoConfig.

Here, they say, that it should do autoconfig
https://amiga.resource.cx/search.pl?product=amega
Maybe the installation disk on that page helps.

Are you running Kickstart 1.2? You need at least that for the memory to show up automatically.

That's what I'm thinking too. This is Kickstart 1.1. I am getting ready to make a Kickstart 1.3 disk to see if that helps.

Yeah, check it with 1.3 first and then start debugging further. :-)
