How to set a subfolder as standard path for games ??? o.O

Hi everyone

im new here but know winuae quite longer as im here
all works properly at moment

ok now the problem:
im configuring winuae for a friend who lives away from me
The problem is i can start the games but my friend has no idea how winuae works and have not the time to learn about that
so i do for her by save configurations
but he always use my installed path and not the sub folder i want
i tried to load by ./games/ but he always dont load the game and i get the white workbench disk on scren (when i shove this folder to other directory for testing)
cos he change always to C:\programme\winuae\games
and keep not that .\games\ subfolder

now my question
how i can set ONLY the subfolder as standard for games and not the whole path ??

this really sucks and im working since days on it
cos i just want she open winuae choose the config for that game and can play

Hi Chris and welcome to EAB!

You can use relative paths without a problem. So the '.\games\subfolder' sounds okay if WinUAE is in the 'base' folder of 'games'. Not sure if you meant that though

yes i know that i can do that

but if i save a configuration then he save the full path and not just the subfolder
for example E:\programme\WINUAE\Games (german windows)
and not .\games\
even i type .\games\ before the diskname
for example .\games\Lemmings_1.adf

but hen its doesnt work on other pc
my win partition is E:\
but most have C:\
the drive letter C doesnt exist by me (i done it so)

hope we can find solution cos i promised i will get it for her and i dont want she get disappointed

Okay, seems that it doesn't like '.\' as the start. Just use '\', so in your case '\games\Lemmings_1.adf' for example.

hm... i still get the white screen with the workbench disk if i type \games\lemmings_1.adf manually

strange.

he only continue when i mount the disk manually


maybe is there a configurator for winuae so that beginners can use it
cos winuae is not easy for people who have no idea how a pc works.

i try google but i dont find any
maybe i dont have the right keyword for searching......

edit: i found lemonade as game browser for winuae
lets see how to handle it

That is indeed strange. Which WinUAE version do you use and can you attach a config file that you saved that way?

You need GameBase aswell : http://bu22.com/ (GameBase is the program (v1.2) and GameBase Amiga is a database for it (v1.6), so don't wonder about the version numbers). I can't find an easy HowTo about how to set it up now, but it's not that hard. Install GameBase first and then GameBase Amiga. Hopefully someone has a link to a HowTo

About the relative paths : It works here, so could you attach (there is an 'Manage Attachments' button once you post when you scroll down) a config that you made with the '\' path?

if i could know how to set this path manually in the config but im to scared to crash winuae and nothing works anymore
so i just need type the diskname in the floppy field
example DF0 Lemmings_1.adf
that were nice and would solve my problems

these tools are not that i was looking for its more work as use winuae manually ^^
cos he never show what i got
he show every game what is known in their database and there is not button or other´s with that i can tell him he should show me only what i got
even then when i have this game i cant start it from there xD
so its useless for beginners who have no idea.

I use it that way for quite a while now and I don't know what's wrong on your side. You will need to also set the kickstart to a relative path, but let's first get the floppy disk sorted. It works the way I described, so unless you provide a config you created that way, there's not much I can do about that.
Also you can easily open any WinUAE config with a text editor and the worst thing that can happen is that you mess up that one config. Make a backup first and you're safe.
