Unofficial game "sequels" made by crackers
Anyone remember the unofficial game "sequels" and "hacked versions" made by various crackers that used to float around? I don't mean trained versions, I mean where the actual level or sprite data etc. has been changed.
Eg. GridStart 2 by Motley Crew/Amigaforce (still looking for this one) and GridStart 3 by someone else (non-TOSEC but available from my site) Stunt Car Racer TNG I'm very interested in these kinds of games, they are usually better than the original...but they seem rather neglected as a group. Most of these kinds of games don't seem to be mentioned on HOL or available in TOSEC. These kinds of games are more readily available for the C64. (Eg. the C64 there was also 720 Degrees Part 2 and various Giana Sisters sequels, these are on GameBase 64). I was wondering are there any other "hacked" games like these, there must be at least a few more? and where they could be obtained? I'm willing to host them at my site, they seem to be in dire need of preservation. |

heh.. I did a "special" version of the very old platform game "robbeary" (which I think was made by the same guy who did XR35).
My mother-in-law used to love playing it, and it seemed like a good idea at the time to replace the main characters idle animations (tapping foot, spinning bow tie) with him tossing off Suffice to say, this was a classic moment the first time she witnessed this behaviour from the cute teddy bear !! Incidentally, it would be nice to get a copy of that game again for nostalgic reasons if anyone has it !!! |
