Tool Types disappearing

I'm running WHDLoad on Classic Workbench P96, and whenever I try to set NOCACHE and EXPCHIP tooltypes, they never seem to have any effect on the game (in this case Future Wars which runs way too fast).
When I go back and check to see if I have used the tool types correctly, they have disappeared. Sometimes it's just the one command missing, other times it's both.

The commands seem to disappear after executing the game. If I simply enter the commands and hit save, they will still both be there until the game is launched.

Is there something I'm not doing correctly? Is there a chance there's a global command overriding them both? Any help is much appreciated.

Which file system is installed on the partition? If it is PFS then you should wait at least 5 seconds after the last write access before you kill the OS. Ctrl-A-A kills the OS, WHDLoad does it, too.

Hi Thomas. I couldn't honestly tell you what file system I'm using. is there an easy way to find out? All I know is that i'm using the standard Classic WB P96/system.hdf is that helps?

I tried your tip of waiting 5 seconds. I waited 30 just to make sure, but the game still runs too fast, and after exiting, NOCACHE and EXPCHIP have disappeared once again.

Cheers
Marc.

By any chance is the partition where you have these games mounted as read only?

Is this on WinUAE or a real machine?

Hi Akira. Nope, the partition isn't read only, and I'm using WinUAE.

I tried running the game using AmiKit too and the tool types showed up there, however the game only played at about 5fps.

I'm wondering if this might be a Classic WB issue?

I have had this problem with WinUAE some times where changes I did to the hard drive (like changing the startup-sequence) seemed to save OK but they would disappear later, like after resetting, this i why I ask.

I never figured out what it was but it might be your problem here.

Maybe a Scalos problem? I remember some issues with TinyLauncher and tool types in Amiga setups like ClassicWB Full.
