A1200 audio shielding

Hi guys,

I've now encountered two A1200s with this extra copper shielding piece, similar to what the A4000 uses. At first I thought it is a piece snipped off the A4000 one but actually it seems to be a bespoke part.

Does anyone know why some systems have this? I wouldn't imagine it does all that much considering the A1200 case is plastic, and the motherboard is already shielded. I suppose it grounds the audio and composite connectors marginally better, but...

The adicional shield is to improve the ground to the RCA (audio and video) jacks and cover a bit more the left over empty space of them.

I'm looking for one for my A1200 but unfortunately I haven't found one

I’m thinking it would be easer to make a change to that part, than the entire folded tinplate shield.
They’d have known it was capable of doing S-Video for example.

Well maybe, but the motherboard tray is still intact behind it so you couldn't make very big changes. And these two have been perfectly ordinary A1200s otherwise.
