Amiga 2 Button Joystick to PC USB

Hello there forum chummies,

I am on the lookie for information on how to do this (that doesn`t require butchering a db9 port into an existing pc joy controller). I dont mind canablizing parts but I need to build my own circuits lol so chips and stuffs is good

soo anyone know where to begin... I have been thumping google, but it hasn't submitted yet.... it keeps thinking i am going to submit by clicking that button..., but i tells you aint never gonna happen...!!!

my ramblings did turn up this item,

http://www.retrousb.com/index.php?productID=124

but out of stock, I am interested in knowing what that little chip thing is in front of it all

It be a PIC microcontroller that talks USB.

I can't remember the model # off the top of my head, but you can go to microchip's site and view a table of the specs of all their chips.

I'm pretty sure there's also some example code there to function as a USB HID device.. Then it's a simple matter of selecting what GPIO pin you want to be what direction and writing the additional code to poll them and send the appropriate down/up commands to the USB routine.

/me hands Zetr0 a heavier Google-hammer....

*wham* The "I want it working in 20 minutes and I've got a spare USB controller to butcher" approach.

*wham* The "I make all my PCBs from scratch" approach. This guy also sells the PICs loose or on pre-assembled interface boards.
