Shit Game Time: Street Fighter II (Amiga + C64)
Hi all,
As many of you know I normally post a SGT video review every Friday but I feel I've been given no choice but to post these 2 older videos here at this moment as I've been asked quite a few times as of late to play and shit-rate Street Fighter II on not only the Amiga but C64 and yet I have already done these a while back. So once again here are the links for those who either haven't seen them or was thinking about requesting me to do them Oh by the way, my labrador is constantly letting off anal gas during the C64 video, coincidence of the version I'm playing? About the Dave Lowe Uncle Art alter ego musician: i know he had to do musics in a very tight RAM but if we think Wolfchild tunes were around 20/25k and did play much better even in TWO channels makes me think

In all aspects of life, people do not search before they ask.
... the Amiga version actually looks less bad in the video than I remember it being. It still lacks the speed of decent ports / the arcade version and thus will not be fun to play for very long, but I really remember horrible framerates. Last edited by gimbal; 30 November 2021 at 11:57. |

yes, SF2 on Amiga, maybe, today we see a very bad porting (but the same on Atari ST and DOS), but at the time brought Amigans in the Street Fighter II world. I was a fan of Coin-op game so i liked on Amiga knowing that has been bad developed.
Of course C64 game is like a challenge and if we think at its hardware it's like a little miracle. The musics are great istead. Last edited by Seiya; 30 November 2021 at 14:13. |

The C64 version is terrible (same with Final Fight around the same time)
As others said, Amiga is not terrible Did others get Street Fighter 2 badges (or pins in America) inside their original boxes? |

Ah of course, that's it. It's being played on an A1200. I played it in an A500... oof.

I think it's even faster on A1200 than on this recording. But it might be because I have better CPU than 68EC020. I think it runs on my config similar as on this video.
[ Show youtube player ] More or less game use better CPUs, probably because using CPU in majority. So unplayable on A500, and playable on vanilla A1200 or above. |

Okay, I stand corrected. I guess this time I really do remember the game being worse than it really was Usually it's the other way around.

Have the feeling that SFII might be slower on machines with less than one meg or not ECS but is my impression: is the A500 where you did play SFII OCS or ECS, Zeus?

Playing on a plain ole A600 with external drive it played a bit slow but I had no other game like it at the time and didn't get Body Blows until later which shows how a fighting game on Amiga can work. It didn't take long to accidently find the ntsc switch 'Press A on title screen' which helped speed the game up and make the special move timing slightly easier to pull off. The game didnt look or sound to bad either for a 1mb amiga. Characters and backgrounds fairly detailed and even animated backgrounds. It got a fair amount of play time in single player and two player while trying to complete the game with every character although on the default difficulty level as it just got more unplayable the higher it was set. |

You don't need to remember such trivia, that's why HOL exists 1992 indeed.

Back then; we still had alot of fun in the Versus Mode , not as much as with IK+ , but still.
SF2 would had deserved a true Amiga version. Sadly, it did not happen. The Disk Swapping problem at least, can be fixed with WHDLoad AND if you type CACHE in the Tooltypes It will run pretty fast ( not really smooth, but fast ) Greetings, Torti |
