Rainbow Island

Hey does anyone know for definate when Rainbow Island was released? I know its not important but im just curious because many websites like Moby games, Lemon Amiga say it was 1990 but others like Amiga Hol say 1989. Also the August 1989 issue of the One Magazine and September 1989 issue of CU Amiga reviewed Rainbow Island. So why are some sources saying 1989 and others 1990?

The manual says (c) 1990 Ocean Software Ltd, the disk scan too:

Really? Because I looked at the box scans on Amiga Hol and it says 1989? this is why im curious because im finding two different years stated. Also dont games usually get reviewed by magazines after they have been released? thats why I cant work out why the Aug 89 issue of the ONE mag reviewed it.

All reviews i know are from 1990, the HOL boxshot shows only the Taito TM & Copyright. Some mags reviewed preview versions sometimes, for various reasons.

Yes, i read them. I still think they reviewed not the complete programmed game. Or Ocean delayed the release a bit, who knows.

Yeh thats what I was thinking that it may of had a planned 1989 release but was delayed. I was just curious thats all.

It was finished for 1989, reviewed in many magazines, then Telecomsoft went bust Ocean acquired the game, releasing it officially in 1990.

Yep just found it. Funny thing is there seems to be a contradiction with this article and the Rainbow Island article on wikipedia. According to the Wikipedia article on Rainbow Island the C64, Amstrad etc version was also published by Graftgold/Ocean. This is copy of the text - Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC (1989, Graftgold/Ocean). But that Article on Graftgold seems to indicate that it was published by Graftgold/Telecomsoft and then the Amiga/ST version of Rainbow Islands were published by Ocean Software in 1990 due to complicated contractual obligations. I have no idea haha. It doesnt really matter anyway but thanx for the info Retro-Nerd.
