That playsid.library doesn't appear to use AHI - or we don't have the same version...

Some of the charm with Paula is the mono channels. At least for modules, original music.

Looking at the making of "Dread" you might have noticed the do stereo sfx.
In 3D games that is great!

Paula can even do stereo music with CD quality sample rate or higher but that require hi-res. screenmodes and more than standard CPU power. It is useless for games.

Horizontal scan rate, to be precise. The DMA slots are tied to the scheduling for a line of video data. Paula gets X bits per line. You get different potential rates depending on what horizontal frequency you select. This means you can make some weird modes like 23Khz if you want CD quality but better horizontal resolution than you can get from 31Khz.
