Vlab Motion and Vampire
Hey guys...... I am having hard time to run my Vlab Motion 1.2 version
Doesnt matter if I use a SCSI2SD card, Slave SD card in my Vampire, etc I have always this error v/dmotion.library: Error in data transfer phase!(21) Any idea how I can fix this problem ? Do I need to use a different MASK in my hard drive when it is not a SCSI drive ? It has been a long time since I used my Vlab Motion. Before I was using a UltraWide SCSI II with a Cheetah hard drive if I remember correctly. Thanks in advance for your help |

A couple of possible solutions:
-Check that your MovieShop installation is correct. Files between versions are not interchangeable. I suggest you reinstall it. -Verify the transfer rate settings in MovieShop, as some SCSI2SD versions dont provide enough bandwith for higher quality settings. -In my DraCo my drive mask setting is 0x7FFFFFFE, but I doubt this would help you in your own machine configuration. BTW, which scsi card are you using? |

Thanks gulliver.
Right now I am trying to use my Slave SD card connected to my Vampire (I am using an Amiga 2500). In theory it should be fast enough to record video. Vampire has a high data transfer for that. I will try this weekend to follow your suggestions. I did try to use an A2091 but it will create issues with my vampire for the DMA controller. I think using IDE Vampire should be enough. Are you using a Vampire board too ? thanks again. |

An A2091 is really slow for MovieShop. Yes, better try the Vampire's IDE.
No, I dont have a Vampire, I use MovieShop in an Amiga-ish specialized clone designed in the 90's but geared towards digital video editing. It is called MacroSystem DraCo. Anyway, let me know how it goes for you. |

I did try again today.
A clean MovieShop installation 4.3 this time. Removed all the libraries inside LIBS: too so Movieshop will be fresh and ready. Doesnt matter what hard drive I use, I have dmotion.library error. I did notice, in my second floppy disk installation there is a dmotion.library and another 040 folder for cpus 040 and 060 with a different dmotion.library. I tried both, and same error. So, just guessing.............. maybe there is a possibility that this dmotion.library doesnt see or recognize Vampire as 68k CPU ?? Will be cool if somebody else with Vampire and Vlab Motion could test this. |

Why are you running MovieShop 4.3. You should be using 4.8.
The dmotion.library wont be used in your system, it is a hardware support library exclusively designed for the DraCoMotion A/V capture card of the DraCo/Casablanca. What your system should use is the vmotion.library (notice the v instead of the d in its name). |

For some reason it will keep installing that dmotion.library and motion.library.
Doesnt matter if I install 4.3 or 4.8 version. I have the feeling that Movieshop sees a Vampire board as a different thing vs 68k CPU original. So, I am using CoffinOS but I want to create a new and clean system just in case is just a software issue. I dont have another 68k board like 030, etc so I cannot teste anything else, sadly |

Well, it could certainly be a case of incompatibility with the Apollo core. But before blaming the cpu, I would suggest first trying MovieShop in a clean 3.1 or 3.1.4 system.
3.9 and the CoffinOS distro look nice and have lots of stuff, but from a technical point of view, they are a support nightmare, and an accident waiting to happen. |
