Amiga 4000D disk drives

I have 2 disk drives in my A4000 desktop system.

Df0: (I think this is a HD drive as will not read any of my normal disks)

Df1: (This is a normal disk drive)

My question is.........why would the high density drive be the boot up drive ?

Do you think that originally that they were swapped around the other way ?

Obviously....the way round that it is now is a right pain in the ass as i have to keep going into the pre-boot menu system to select "Boot DF1:"

I will have to swap these drives around the other way........but was just curious why they are around this way in the first place ?

The A4000D originally came with one HD drive only. HD drives will read both HD and DD disks. If your drive does not read any disks, it is defective. Or the disks are bad.

You don't need to select df1 from the menu. If there is no harddrive installed, the Amiga will boot from any disk drive with a disk in it. If you have a hdd, you can change its boot priority to below that of df1 (I think it is -5 or something).
