Question A1000 keyboard with A1200? Possible?

Hi, quick question:

Is it possible to use an Amiga 1000 keyboard with an Amiga 1200? I'm looking for an external keyboard solution for my A1200...

Any other Commodore/Amiga keyboard would suit fine, too - as long as it fits in the "keyboard garage" underneath the A1000.

I don't want PC/AT keyboards, it has to be a genuine Commdore/Amiga keyboard, of course With all Ctrl-Amiga-Amiga magic etc.

I'm not afraid of soldering and modding, but I'm a bit clueless about what is the right way to do this... anyone?

Any Amiga keyboard will work.

But A1000/2000/3000/4000 will not reset the A1200 (they use a different scheme to reset).

The hack is pretty straightforward: just join kb_data(s), kb_clock(s), +5V and ground and you are ready to use 'em.

Okay,

If I make use of A1000/2000/3000/4000 keyboards, are they good for gaming, too? (I'm sure the reset combination can be hacked somehow.)

The most important things are to be able to reset (Ctrl-Amiga-Amiga) and use several keys simultaneously (gaming etc). I don't use much Workbench anyway, I'm building/modding a WHDLoad machine...

My other alternative is to make an extender for the A1200 keyboard itself. (I'm going to mod the case anyway so might as well use the original A1200 keyboard.)

What is the easiest way to make an extension cable? Soldering extension wires straight to the flat keyboard "cable" of the A1200 is not the solution, I assume?

I found the EZKEY-SE on AmigaKit.com. I wonder if this is something useful for me. Anyone have experience on this? The forum search only gave me hits for the EZKEY-XM (or something), and I think the SE version is something else.

Yes, other Amigas had better keyboard controllers.

The reset circuit can be found on aminet. Have a look around.
