NEONworld - free Amiga game assets
Hi Everyone,
I recently entered the Annual Amiga Art Contest for 2020 and decided to enter something slightly different, free game assets. -------------- Want to build your own Amiga game but don't have assets, we'll I decided create assets ready to use and build a game in your favourite engine or your own. The graphics are OCS and 16 colours, this should cover every Amiga platform including the very first Amiga 1000. I plan to do more game assets for people to play with over time. (I have other assets such as Tetris clone, and Space Invaders, but newer ideas will come) This screenshot shows the example map created in "Tiled" and the complete game assets in the bottom right section. If your interested in future please read the details and grab the assets from my Blog/Patreon site. (zip file) https://www.patreon.com/posts/neonworld-2020-42472876 The idea is to encourage more people to play around with the newer engines such as RedPill, Scorpion or work on their own. P.S. The only condition is the game is free and add credits and links back to me If you enjoy what I do, please consider becoming a Patreon or send a Beer https://ko-fi.com/kevinsaunders Any thoughts, ideas, questions P.S.S. Currently now focusing on "Reshoot Proxima III", and a little "Boss Machine" (have also tinkered around "Mig n Ziggy" and helping a few other Amigans with various assets/designs then need |

Hello Pyromania, at this stage I will say no, depending on the project/complexity I can certainly look into it. Do you have a demo running? would love to know more though and keen to encourage anyone to code more Amiga games
@ Adrian, great to hear/read, hope you entered the Art Competition recently |

Thanks for the feedback everyone, looking this morning and do have quite a few assets to share, some include our Dear Edgar Vigdal projects that were aimed for mobile phones but never saw the light of day, but would be nice to de-make "Dots Adventures" for the Amiga, such a fun game on IOS.

Excellent work Pyromania, did you create the characters yourself?, whoever did would certainly have the skill to make backgrounds? Assuming the game is for AmigaOS (4.1)? and hopefully the Classics?
Probably need a dedicated thread for discussion. |

I’m the architect of them only, the idea man. Most DiscreetFX work is assigned to paid contractors. Yes, it should have its own thread.

I'm not going to be using these to make my own game anytime this century, but I've always got a kick out of gawping at the asset sheets that comprise retro games. I see them like a bag of loose Lego bricks... the possibilities are endless.
Fantastic project, thanks! |

Thanks for the info Pyromania, let me know if you do start your own thread, very interested in following. I would also recommend getting these teaser images out on other social circles (Twitter/facebook/etc).
Thanks dreamkatcha, I do also enjoy checking out asset sheets. Possible next game sheet is "Deluxe Frogger", I did create a lot of graphics for an AmigaOS 4.1 game, but haven't seen it in the wild (date created - 2014). Currently converting this as I believe this this has big potential for OCS and AGA. To give you a quick tease, If you have seen "Boss Machine", we have 16 colour splits for each parallax and as Frogger is very much a horizontal scroll, parallaxing them at different rates will be very nice. More info to come. |

It's offical, I'm about to make a demo using the Scorpion Engine
Good opportunity to learn something new and if all goes well might enhance the gfx further, Halfbright mode is very tempting |

Hi Everyone,
Have to say was a great surprise to see the free assets used. Frank Neumann has created a cool demo using the free assets, video in link below. https://www.patreon.com/posts/neon-world-frank-95135981 Follow Franks progress here https://github.com/cobour/neon-world |
