When launched from the physical Amiga Forever 1.3 disk, Ed throws the following error: Unable to load ed: Error 111 I initially thought this was simply Ed requiring a larger buffer but even setting a very large one resulted in the same error. It is not clear exactly which changes made by Cloanto are responsible for this problem but I can testify that this is annoying. The text edition capabilities of WB1.3 are not exactly plentiful in the first place but having to use EDIT instead of ED makes text edition a real nightmare. |

Any news on this? Does AF/Cloanto (resellers) sell functional 1.3.3 (34.34) physical disks? (Or provide identical disk images to owners of Amigas with Kick 1.3 for free.)

I have some NOS disks but not for sale. I can make ADF from them if you want.

Well, the "free download" thing was a bit innocuously stated, wasn't it? I meant more like: I'm registered with Cloanto and have paid, will I be able to get legit disk image replacements for disks that I have that don't work anymore? (This was the case for me.)
Files in one directory had a r/w error, and I didn't feel like opening the disk and clean it, so I'm afraid I succumbed and grabbed the disk image from any source that would supply it to solve the problem. Re: previous comment: My disks had the Ed command...? What it didn't have was the 3 files required for Say to work, so I had to copy that from another set of originals (but 1.3, not 1.3.3). So for these particular files, I think something happened with their licensing of it _before_ 2.1. devs:narrator.device l:speak-handler libs:translator.library |

Were you able to make ADFs from your NOS 1.3.3 disks without errors? I have been going through my originals but as stated above sadly, many of them have errors from time. Even ones that I know didn't really get used much. These poor disks are disintegrating as time goes on. I have also found that my newer PC converted floppy drives read the disks more reliably. Some of my old Amiga drives show errors that the PC drive can cope with, apparently. |

I acquired some NOS floppy disks. Kept in immaculate condition. I've used some to tinker with ADF and test out flux imaging and writing of some original disks I have...
Workbench encouraged users to make backups and use the backups. It advised you to do so in the manual if I remember correctly (or at least on my A600 it did). Original disk is purely for nostalgic purposes. I had several of these from various OS versions that I sold along with Amigas in the past. I'm sure I still have 1.3.(3?) and 2.0 somewhere in storage Last edited by lesta_smsc; 21 June 2020 at 00:06. |
