i think not many are familiar with virtual internet modem - I've never heard about.
you must give some more information.
how is your amiga connected to the net, pcmcia card - serial link to your windows machine?
which software you have installed, Miami, amitcp?

null modem. bbs works now. virtual internet modem turns your com port into a vitual modem, so computers connected to it think its a dial up modem. http://boycot.no-ip.com/Software
http://98.127.192.66:6502/Software/

and im using ncomm

good news. i think you can at least use 19200, depends on your amiga model.
try another irc client, there is for example amirc and blackirc.

thanks for the internet modem link.

maybe i'm wrong, but i would say ncomm is a nogo for an irc session.
you need a dedicated irc client. you can try the ircII client from above. it starts from shell/cli.

possible, but not very useable i guess. same when you browsing the web, using telnet on port 80 somewhere

AmIRCii-2.8.2.lha -> AmIRCii-2.8.2/bin/IRC-II/bin/irc-2.8.2 is the client
start it with option "-d" for a start, change nochname with /nick command
then /server irc.undernet.org for example. /join #channel ... and so on

#1) i've tried using it here with winuae, but it crash, when emulating a500 kickstart/workbench 1.3 with 1MB memory. it does work when using a1200 emulation.
i hope you have more luck.

a1000 using ncomm connected to irc - this must work somehow.

#1) cannot find some instruction for connecting to irc with ncomm.
i'm using telser ( this does what your internetmodem does - together with ncomm,
just saw the welcome mesage of undernet , then it was closing connection - i keep trying.

i have no clue how to enter '/nick nickname' while connecting - this did work with ircii client.
no clue howto do this with ncomm. also tested dctelnet - same problem.

#2) i have no idea how this may work. another optio for you may be grapevine irc client.

I was wrong here, grapevine wants 3.0 system - since they wrote 2.0 comaptible, i thought the other way around ( 1.3 -> 2.0 -> 3.0 ). - so this is nogo for workbench 1.3
