Icon sets (for wb etc.)

Hi all!

So, I just downloaded Exotic Icons pack from Exotica website,
and was wondering, from where could other nice looking Icon sets and
icon packs etc. especially for wb 3.x and os 3.5/os 3.9 be found.

So, it would be nice to have beautiful icons for different partitions, disks,
Ram disk,, all the system folders etc.

Sure I know MagicWB, and have heard of NewIcons, but which options are there actually total ?

Anyone could recommend some set and maybe even upload some actual
snapshots of his/her system.. ? :-)

And maybe give some useful links! (too lazy to always do google, er?)

An excuse to steal a little bandwidth from Amiga.org:

Ken's Icons V3
Link: http://www.os4depot.net/?function=st...00605&count=20
Pretty in a traditional kind of way.
OS4 icons..?

No, not my setup - mine's a bit 'bluer'.

or

Have a nose about WinCustomize:
Link: http://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?libid=2
and do a bit of converting...
...my usual source.

*edit*
Bah! Ken's icons gone off the server...
...another 'developer' to have jumped ship?

Well, nice icon sets slowdown real machines and emulation setups like AmiKit uses some cool PNG icon sets/changeable GUI themes.

Then download the powericons patch (for PNG support) and try some cool Linux PNG icon sets.

@Retro-Nerd

Thanks for giving some directions!

However, I think I was only joking, I mean I do truly have a PIV card,
but even that card doesn't do any miracles, and will sometimes feel slow..
Good card still, but rather old ;-)

But those of you with PPCs, 060s and hundreds Megs of Ram, not even talking of pci expansions and Voodoo cards etc. with your classy Amys,
would you feel that using some cool iconset replacement 'd really totally slow down your sensational systems ...?! :-/

I like the look of the little icons used by the ProLite icon set, specially the little books and monitors.

Contrary to the official GlowIcons, all the icons are reasonably small (good for small resolutions). And the authors have chosen very generic pictures for its icons, in a way each one can be used for many programs and documents. And it uses only 16 colors!

On thing though, is that its palette is very non-standard. If you use a screen with 16 colors you will see that it eat all the colors and will not leave anything for the other icons sets you have. And it not works well with the Rebel's palette.

[New: Actually I made the Rebel's palette to work by changing only two of it's GlowIcons colors with the drawer colors used in ProLite. This way Prolite works nicely with the NewIcons, GlowIcons and Sad Jester sets.]

[Edit: for some more icons even not found on aminet look: http://web.archive.org/web/200312040....org/newicons/]

ProLite URL:

PS. Interesting thread!

Is there a way to install an icon set, other than a lot of manual copying etc...?

I've made a few icons - so how would I distribute them so they can be easily installed?

You have to use an application "Icons copy", these applications also allow you to change only the image without changing the type and the associated tool, see attached small video tutorial

The Applications used in the Video are OS3 native !!!

To answer the actual question: no, there is no way to exchange a whole icon set. You have to copy each icon individually.
