Shadow of the Beast - a run through various versions..

Yup, as the title suggests.. just running through the various versions of SOTB.. this is what it looks like when I'm out of ideas..

great vid. A few observations:

- the ZX Spectrum versions looks like its actually for the Gameboy Color! What *horrible* gameplay

- the Atari ST version seems to suck a lot more than it should

- The Amiga version remains the best one, although the FM Towns version is very pretty also.

Thanks laffer
The first two versions (Spectrum and CPC) are interesting, because the kind of black/white colorscheme is really good used on those platforms.

Cool comparison. The video makes the FM-Towns version look a little jerky, but I assure you it isn't in real life.

I dunno why but someone has edited the credits of the Amiga version on MobyGames and changed the programmers to the C64 version!! Programmers and designers of the Amiga version were Martin Edmondson and Roger Howarth.

MobyGames also credit Martin & Roger with programming the Megadrive/Genesis version. They didn't. It was converted by WJS Design and not Reflections.

Anyone who has Moby access, see if you can get it put back.

The music on the ZX Spectrum version is so damn painful. What the hell!?!

EDIT: After watching the whole thing I can say they still all look shit gameplay wise. The best thing about the game is the music and they seem to have ruined that on almost every version!

Super Nintendo version have sounds like from Super Mario Bros game... ST version have slowdowns and sometimes looks less colorful than Master System version (and it's 8-bit console).

Nothing to be done about that. UNZ does not have a video recording function so I had to use FRAPS.. and my PC isn't all that
However, I don't think it turned out that bad, could be much worse

It wasn't an insult. Just a comment for your viewers.

BTW: How did you get UNZ to work with this game without gfx glitches?

Game is 50 fps, Youtube is 25 fps

And I didn't think it was an insult, just thought I'd explain why

And Beast does have graphic glitches.. however, when you enter and leave the well, only the sides have errors and I cut them out
