Time in Prefs - Won't change Date OS3.1
I am running OS 3.1 with 3.1 Roms and ClassicWB. I am trying to set the date using the time utility in Prefs but it won't change.
I know of the date CLI command and can set it with that but it won't save. Is there a command line switch to save the date and time? |

Hi illy,
You require a battery backed-up Real Time Clock to save the date and time. |

I can set the date from cli "Date 13-Sep-2009" etc but I don't know the switch to save it from cli. Thanks |

Use the SETCLOCK and SETDATE commands from the CLI:
SETCLOCK LOAD|SAVE|RESET SETDATE <file> <date> <time> |

I'll look into it. I'm sure someone else mentioned something similar in the past.
Which version is it? The ADV and above use a MUI replacement for time prefs. Perhaps it's bugged? |

Yeah it is ClassicWB advanced. Thanks! Did you ever resolve the issue where calling a shell from the "Launch" button makes it to where you can not see your proper paths?

Yes I fixed that. I cheated - it's no longer on the launch button!
Now it's a small icon "left out". Plus it's on the right click menu and top menubar anyway. |

illy5603, can you try and replace the "Time" program with the original one from your Workbench 3.1 extras disk and let me know if that works?
I need to know if to abandon the MUI time prefs and go back to the original. |

I abandoned the MUI Time prefs because it just didn't work. Back to 3.1 version instead. No probs now.

Thanks illy, sounds like bamiga has the answer - it doesn't work properly!
I might abandon all the MUI Prefs replacements. Apart from Screenmode and Font in the ADV and above versions, as the old ones for these two don't work well with the asl.library replacement I use. |
