Around 25-30 I'd say. Below that I can't really 'enjoy' playing it.

Yep, 30 FPS is good enough to play these kind of games.

It's about 3D games like Doom, not 2D games.

It really depends on the game and system and what kind of play.
Doom on an A1200 is fine at 10-12 fps but try playing Call of Duty 5/6 online on a PC at 10fps you'll get very mad very quick! 60+ is good in that case and to enjoy modern fps on PC in single player its 30fps + |

I'd probably say 25fps is passable for a FPS.

In Amiga land about 15 fps is tolerable. But Shogo for example is a little nicer @300 fps on my lappie...
OK, it's just a figure on my max 75 Hz screen... |

I would like to discover what "Gloom" runs at - I'm sure it isn't many FPS but it is still a very playable real Amiga game.

@peter it seems very similar to Doom. I would guess 10-15fps on 030 20+on 040 and 30+ on 060

ok I will vote
but please note that I changed the opinion around the time in the past I tolerated low fps I remember I played Alien breed 3d2 until almost the end on the A1200 + apollo 1260/50 at 13-15 fps also I almost finished the game genetic species on idem config at 20-22fps but now I'm exquisite and I tolerate only around 45-50 ![]() |

some games seem to tolerate slower frame-rates better than others.
however as a general rule of thum anything less than 20 frames is painfull and in a lot of ways ceases to be a game as such. there are a few exceptions to this rule - as such I cannot think of any - perhaps Iron Helix on the MegaCD (although thats kinda on rails) |

Needs to be constant as well. It's fluctuations in framerate that can be a killer. I guess it depends on the pace of the game as well.

This is on Amiga only right?
On PC its just 60fps, no exceptions. In frantic gunfights you (or at least I) need a silky smooth screen update to be able to move from target to target in a split second and still hit something. |

I hope you're talking about UT3. If your computer cannot even render UT classic at 60fps, you are a serious cheap bastard.

I like my games to run at least 30fps to enjoy them... and even higher with frantic online gaming!
