Hi, Just started my Amiga mid life crisis!!!

Hi everyone

I'm 43 and I've got the urge to build myself a nice little Amiga WHDLoad gaming machine with a 4GB CF card and an Accelerator of some kind.

I was heavily in to the Amiga in the 80's and 90's owning several machines A500, A600 and A1200 which was fully pimped out with just about everything you could get at that time. But my love affair ended when I saw a 486 PC running Doom etc.

Since then I've become a collector of consoles from Saturn upwards and own pretty much all consoles and a beast of a PC (i7 2600k, GTX 580 in a SG05 Mini ITX case) I've also been hoarding computers for years from car boots and always just stick them in the loft!

I new that I have at least 2 Amiga's in the loft so I decided to dig them out and after testing I have a fully working but yellowing A1200 and a Dead but very clean white A600. So the quest begins.

I'll post a new thread as I would like opinions on which way to go A600 or A1200.

Looks like a great community here btw

Go with the 1200. There are more expansion options available as well it will give you AGA. It would be nice to see the A600 working again though.

Good to have you onboard, I'd go for the A1200 too.
I only ever had the A500 as a kid, and always wanted the A2000 or A3000.
Started collecting Amigas again 2 months ago and now have A500, A600, A1000 and A2000HD, still need the A1200 and A3000 (not too keen on the A4000, CDTV or CD32 at the moment). The A600 is a work-in-progress until I get the A1200.

Welcome back - i too returned due to midlife crisis and surge of nostalgia for my 'happy times' of gaming.
I agree with the guys - go for pimping out the A1200. My wife got me a nice and white Amiga Technologies 1200 and I then spent 12months pimping it out and following the advice from the guys here. Best time and money I have ever invested in a lifetime of gaming.
Enjoy

Well, a 600 was my dad's fave. Amiga... even after I got him an '030 / 16MB 1200!
I'd say go with a 1200, maybe a degrader or 2, and WHHDLoad, you can make a pretty killer gaming system based on a 1200. My 1200T is mainly my heavy duty graphics/rendering machine, but also has 215 games installed on HD! Compatibility of the games is rather high too, IME.

Hello and Welcome as a few have said the A1200 but I'm sure it will lead to them all or as many different amiga's you can fit in at home, is that not what a mid-life crises is all about starts with one then another and another
