Brian the Lion has protection after you complete the first stage, and then later on half way through the game.

The nature of the protection means it was easier for the crackers to simply bypass it completely rather than enable you to see it.

Another later protection

Prince of Persia SPS_1407 & 1823 - Just prior to entering level 2, you are required to drink the correct potion specified in manual. Drink the right one and the door to level 2 opens. Keep drinking the wrong one and health is diminished until dead. Protection did not appear here in SPS_82 so take this one with salt. It is possible to go straight to the protection screen by pressing CapsLock & L keys.

I have an original copy of Worms: The Directors Cut and can confirm that it does NOT, in fact, have manual-based copy protection (or any copy protection).

K240 requires manual protection. You had to enter words from the manual.

Here's a full list of the codes that the game can ask for. It only uses 100 words in each language: English, French, and German.

That's great. Thanks a lot guys! Worms DC is now removed from the list and K240 has been added.

I am still looking into these four games. Does anyone know if these have copy protection or not?

Armour-Geddon
Bloodnet
Dark Seed
Flight of the Amazon Queen
Syndicate

Thanks again!

Armour geddon ? Only the dreaded psygnosis format on disk, but no manual protection actually. Darkseed has no code manual, nor flight of the amazon queen, nor syndicate.

Great! Well that's cleared that up. I haven't played Bloodnet for a few years but I don't recall any in-game manual protection in that one either. Thanks.

Ok, thanks. It looks like 'Valhalla And The Lord Of Infinity' also has manual protection according to the manual in the HOL.

I think Liberation: Captive II has manual protection when you enter some buildings. Can someone confirm this is actually manual protecction and not something else?

B.S.S Jane Seymour by Gremlin has both disk and manual protection.

Before starting the game you are shown an aliens picture and a name, you look in the manual for the aliens name and see what the alien looks like, you then scroll through the pictures of aliens on screen until you get the correct picture for the name.

Rotox by U.S. Gold has manual protection.

When the game has loaded from Disk B you are asked to identify a level and zone from the manual.

The Cool Croc Twins by Arcade Masters has manual protection.

You are asked to enter a 3 digit code from Grid x Row x Column x.

Indianapolis 500 By Electronic Arts has manual protection.

You are shown a car and asked a question about the year it won a race and you have to enter the year.

I was pretty sure Dark Seed had Copy protection on it, though it may have depended on what version you were using?

I had both AGA and CD32 (I think) versions - I'm pretty sure one of them asked for something at the beginning (maybe the AGA version)?

As for Bloodnet, I had AGA version of this - don't remember any protection. Played it for hours too so pretty sure I'd remember.

Another game to add to the list - Murders From Space. Pretty sure it had manual protection.

Armour-Geddon does not appear to have any manual protection (other than needing it to figure out what the hell to do!!). Loaded my original and it didn't ask for anything from the manual when starting a new game!!

Great stuff guys! Keep 'em coming. I have added all these to the ever-growing list (except for 'the gold of the aztecs' which I had already filed under G ).

I would especially like to get all the games which use code-wheels (these are the ones marked in blue) so if you can think of any not already in the list (and verify the ones marked in red n the list) that would be great. I have not added Murders in Space. I only add stuff if you know for definite there was manual protection. This list is better than I ever thought it would be. Thanks!

Ok, you was right about Darkseed so Murders in Space is added to the list.

Found some more!!

Legend of Djel by Tomahawk has Code Sheet protection.

The game uses a coloured code sheet with 921 rows and columns ABCD, you're asked to enter the colour at column/row, e.g. C493.
Note: The code sheet with my game didn't have rows 410 to 489!!

Dragon Wars by Interplay has Manual Protection.

During the game you are told to read Paragraph xxx in the manual, there are 147 Paragraphs and some contain clues as what to do.

Blade of Destiny: Realms of Arkania by U.S. Gold has Manual Protection.

You are asked to enter the word on Page xx, Line xx, Number xx.
