Synergy-like (kbd & mouse sharing) on Classic Amiga?
Is anyone aware if a Synergy-like software platform ever existed for classic Amigas?

The closest I found was an AmigaOS 4 Synergy client. No sign of 3.x and below, or even a synergy server for the Amiga. This is for the Best daily use for an A500/A500+ thread/project I'm currently engaged in. |

The synergy purpose is for avoiding two sets of keyboard/mice (or more) on the same desk, because the shared monitor (which is an RGB Scart capable TV hybrid) can switch connection sources at the whim of a button (or by using LIRC with an IR transmitter on the Linux machine). In my case I won't need the support for more than one monitor, i.e., when the mouse hits an edge, it doesn't have to switch to a different environment. The switching can be left for a key combination on the Amiga. Last edited by djukon; 25 October 2013 at 18:19. Reason: LIRC |

Well those packages I linked to have source. Maybe it's "easy" to compile a version that only shares mouse/keyboard stuff and make it super light.

I would be interested in such a thing myself, so let me know if you go anywhere with the source! There's many times I use VNC at home just as a keyboard/mouse sharer. I am actually looking at the real screen of the second computer, not at the VNC screen.

Thanks for mentioning Synergy. I didn't know about it but have previously looked for exactly such a program without luck. I used to use a program called Desktop Rover which did the same thing and worked great, but that was only for XP.
Edit: Seems there is an updated version, but it costs money and I thought such a program should exist as freeware. ![]() Would be nice to have some simple Amiga version that would work over a serial connection to control mouse and keyboard. ![]() |
