ACA 1221ec boot problems

I am still having issues with my ACA1221ec... My A1200 boots to a grey screen if left alone at boot time.

Here is what I tried:
A1200 with original 40Mb hard-disk : boots OK with ACA1221ec, full memory available
A1200 with IDE 8gb flash card & ClassicWB : boots to grey screen with ACA1221ec
A1200 with IDE 8Gb flash card & ClassicWB : boots OK with ACA1221ec removed OR jumper set to configure (NO additional RAM)

A1200 with IDE 8Gb flash card & ClassicWB : boots OK if I hold the mouse button down during boot, then select "Reboot" button. Everything works from then on, until I try to reboot again.

Running KS3.1 rom in Amiga.

Any ideas?

Sounds like the loadmodule SCSI.device incompatibility, it's been discussed on here a few times. You should find a few threads on this forum detailing the issue and how to resolve it.

Thanks, I'll have a search.

I am using scsi.device v43.24

First line of the starfup-sequence is:

IF EXISTS DEVS:scsi.device
C:Loadmodule DEVS:scsi.device
Endif

Comment out those lines and see if it boots.

You may not have access to all your HDD without it, but you can work around it by making a custom ROM and soft kicking it, or burning it to eproms. This is what I had to do.

I have the same type of problem as that originally mentioned.

I have an A1200 with 8Gb CF using KS 3.1 (40.068) which works fine but is slow / runs out of memory trying to use WHDLOAD.

After adding an ACA1221EC, it now it hangs when starting up. I can force it to Reboot using the mouse buttons and then get into WB.

I have the correct ACA1221EC library installed and tried mapping my KS using ACAMAPROM and that works OK.

So I think I have the SCSI.device conflict, I am currently using v43.24

I have tried several later versions of scsi.device in the DEVS but they made no difference.

I tried commenting out the same lines in the startup sequence but that had no effect; Amiga still hangs when starting up.

Is it worth trying ACAMAPROM with one of the later Kickstarts like 45.064?

Can you point me in the right direction re custom roms?
