Team17 100 Games History
Came across this and thought I'd share in case it had been missed by some folks. To celebrate their 100th game release, Team17 have published an extensive game-by-game list in chronological order sharing anecdotes and backgrounds for each game. Most early titles are of course Amiga exclusive and some of the commentary was completely unknown to me. Brought back some great memories.

Yes! And brought back some very very distant memories... I had completely forgotten about the Apache inclusion with some games for example.

they even took the time to create animations for those oldies that we love. It's great, considering that they don't sell them anymore. It's probably just because they love them

Team17 really should have hired some quality control specialists. For example, when I play 'Tower Assault' and the 'AB3D2' I am left wondering 'What were they thinking!!' in true AVGN style. The games are enjoyable up to a point and then they get ridiculous for no apparent reason. Most of Team17s games are just a lesson in pure frustration and poor level design. Pity as they could have been great.

I wish Team 17 would bundle all their old Amiga games and sell it as a downloadable or collectible Flash drive.

Its a really cool list and a good read, until you get to the later years and you start to see worms, worms, worms worms worms, worms and worms. And a few other games.

Agreed. It definitely feels more 'samey' and less interesting after 1996. But then I am just a little biased :-)

Publishers were shit in the 2000s and ruined some of our best developers. The same dickheads running record companies, making themselves rich and feeding us with risk averse crap. They are the reason Team 17 couldn't get anything but Worms published, or we didn't see a new Elite game until Kickstarter, or why we never had the new Stunt Car Racer that Geoff Crammond wanted...
If there's one thing the internet has given us, it's allowing people to sidestep those parasites in the creative industries. It's brilliant to see Team 17 able to branch out again over the last 10 years. Edit: not suggesting that anyone above doesn't realise the reasons behind all those Worms games, by the way. I'm just back on an old pet rant. Last edited by clebin; 21 January 2020 at 14:35. |

Edit: shortened this a bit. Walls of text have their place, but perhaps not here

However... I'd say this is not really a Team 17 problem. It's actually par for the course for the 8/16 bit era. The vast majority of arcade games of the era do the same thing. Most console games do it to and even many PC games do this. Last edited by roondar; 21 January 2020 at 15:26. Reason: Removed wall of text... |
