Using A500 hardware on a A1000

I have a Roctec Rochard side expansion unit with harddrive and 8Mb of RAM for my A500.

I read sometime ago that the A500 has a compatible side expansion port as an A1000 except upside down.. what are the chances of using the Rochard unit on the A1000 (case issue aside) - either for the harddrive or memory or both?

I have tried my A590 hardrive with memory expansion on the A1000 (upside down and dissasembled) with no luck, others say it works.

Give it a try.

DON´T USE IT UPSIDE DOWN !!! You may destroy your A1000 with this !

You have to turn it 180 degrees so that the back side of your expansion is looking to the front of the A1000 ....

yes sorry of course, that is what I did... I remember it makes it very difficult to use the joystick and mouse ports (it was a while ago)

So, keep the unit upright.. just connect it to the A1000 but the back of the unit will be facing me.. thanks RetroMan - have you actually had any success in doing this?

I would NOT advise doing that. Instead, get yourself a Supra Memory Expansion unit and hard disk for the Amiga 1000. They work really well. I have never had any problems with mine.

The AmigaBus expansions work just fine back-to-front, but like it was said above, NOT UPSIDE DOWN.

Expensive smoke will come out.

I've done it myself with an A590, no problems there.

A500 Action Replay 2 or 3 won't work on A1000 without some hardware modification...

Action Replay 1 works fine.
