Amiga GCC Where to find it?
Well, hello friends, just a simple question: where is the gcc compiler for Amiga? I have been searching but nothing, only dead links and so on. I know there are others like storm c and so, but i need especifically gcc for a specific project.
Anyone has a clue? Thanks in advance!!!! |

I prefer this link
http://ftp.back2roots.org/geekgadget...68k/alpha/gcc/ they are m68k hosted/targetted I also believe the later versions are generated with -m68020-60 most things you'll want to compile with 2.95.3 only use the more recent front ends if there is picky modern day source tree in 3.4 -repo seems to be broken a c++ concern Gunther Nikl created all of the gcc revisions anyway, good luck... |

So they are for 68k linux then. I can't install linux at the moment, so it will have to wait.

umm... no, they are not for Linux
100% Amiga hosted and targetted... if I was you I'd go to http://ftp.back2roots.org/geekgadget...pshots/990529/ and get everything you need from in there, instructions, binary packages and anything else and only go to the alpha directories if you are looking for something that is missing (a package later added since it served some purpose) or a higher revision if it exists (picky more recent source trees) do however acquire http://ftp.back2roots.org/geekgadget...95.3-4-bin.tgz and also http://ftp.back2roots.org/geekgadget...b-4.16-bin.tgz from the earlier snapshot directory since 4.18 seems to be broken... although, I could never get 4.16 to debug properly anyway... also grab your ix-emulation essentials from http://ftp.back2roots.org/geekgadget...ixemul/native/ the later binaries inside this directory have always performed with no problems... again... good luck just one more thing... everything is conducted via the Amigashell... no icons here or if you prefer... a unix shell by type sh before you begin... ah the days of getting gg up and running properly... get a pizza a six pack good lighting and read Last edited by Slayer; 15 February 2006 at 00:22. |

yet I wanted to leave the decision to the user, hence I had intentionally linked to parent folder Last edited by andreas; 28 February 2006 at 22:25. |

I understand what you mean but what I was outlining was not to use the ftp route and going through http instead...

Oops. Point taken. I had indeed given an FTP link. Heh...
I think that's because I have installed FTP extensions for IE and thus able to browse the FTP servers conveniently as if they were local folders. Hence, it does not make much difference for me. |
