Jagged / Prickly vectors...

Howdy!

When running some of the demos I have I notice that some of the vector objects have jagged or prickly looking edges to them. I notice this most in the ICE demo by Silents. Is this just how they are supposed to be in the demo or is it caused by an easy to fix WinUAE setting?

Well, I ran ICE yesterday on 1.3.4 to check ... (OMG what a long demo! ) and no, there was nothing which appeared wrong to my eyes.

Cheers for running a comparison test. I tried disabling JIT after seeing the improvement it made to the vector objects in Stunt Car Racer but to no avail.

These niggly sorts of things bother me and make me want to get them perfect but I gotta say, WinUAE, the Amiga and everything related to them are just THE BEST!!!!

Well that was a demo designed for A1000s/A500s, so probably what WinUAE shows *is* the perfect thing, as the edges cannot be smoother? Now, this is no AGA...

OK. Tried running it as 68000 CPU with A500+ ROM as I could not get the HD to boot when emulating the A500. Still got the jagged edges. They are horizontal lines along the edges of the 3d shape.

I am running in 1024x768 which is the same resolution as my Windows (shite!) OS. Tried adjusting frame rate and refresh but still notice prickly edges.

I can't believe I managed to attach that pic so quickly. The only times I've managed it are by total fluke and usually after 5 minutes of random clicking!

Anyway... You can see the horizontal jagged lines I think.

The Amiga is great. WinUAE is awesome. WHDload is equally awesome. EAB is the best!!!!

Thanks, Toni. So just "one of those things" from what I've read. Oh well. I'm sure I can live with it. WinUAE is utterly brilliant. Might get burned for typing this but I have not used my A1200 since downloading the latest version of WinUAE. It's just so much easier and BETTER!

I've been going a bit demo-mad and trying to download a load of classics I remember plus newer (than I'd seen back in the day) ones from the big names like Spaceballs & Silents.

I think there was a demo called MENACE that I can't seem to find. One of the effects were white vector (?) cogs moving together on the screen. Anyone know what the F I'm talking about...?

Not really. Yet it would be a good idea to request this name separately, as people that *might* know about it are not likely to look in this thread.

Yeah i seem to remember a demo with white cogs, but they were'nt dimensional vectors were they, just flat on the screen yes?

The demo Joyride by Phenomena has precalced vector cogs.

Thanks, Photon. Just tried that one out. It's not the one I'm thinking of but I do remember liking Joyride back in the day.

The cog routine in the demo I am thinking of was a completely black background with white, circular cogs (not stars) taking up virtually the whole screen. There were 3 if memory serves..
