According to the latest information given by Friedens and people from the management of Hyperion, the initial final release candidate version is planned on the end of 2006. But release of AmigaOS 4.0 depends on hardware available which runs the system. So, if until December there is no new hardware for AmigaOS 4.0, the system will not be released. Yesterday in Italy a new potential hardware was presented. It is called Samantha. But it is hard to tell if it is going to be available in mass production till December.
Take a look here to verify what I wrote: yesterday's chat with Thomas Frieden new hardware specs Hyperion statement chat with Friedens last Saturday |

Wow!
Some pretty vitriolic statements there... Good to see developers, companies, & community members all putting eachother's noses out of joint. I'm glad that EAB seems to remain a civilised corner of the Amiga world. I hope AOS4 comes out as per the most recent schedule & is a sucess - before this latest spat has a chance to fester into something show-stopping. My warm regards & best wishes to all working on this project, if any read this post. |

Sounds suspisciously like every other Amiga revival attempt:

Guys, don't be so pesimistic. If you are commenting the hardware then you should know that the board was presented on Pianeta Amiga. Only a prototype so it may take a while when the mass production starts but it is a good sign.
Though I don't understand why OS4 Team does not try to create OS4 for Pegasos 2 which is available, stands miles away ahead of Samantha/Panda/Amy in terms of specs and power... |

I posted links to the news items where you can find transcripts of what Friedens said. They mentioned OS4 for Classic and issues that exist.

The word isn't pesimistic, it's realistic. Sometimes you just have to face the facts. Life is too short to hang on to broken promises.
Imagine Magnum PI without the PI!?! |

Won't ever get up - had no chance, has no chance, will never have a chance. Will OS4 work on my A4000? Will it run Millenium 2.2? Does it address custom chip hardware? What makes it an "Amiga" OS? Who will market it - to whom? What is the strategic plan? Who is backing it? Who will push it into retail channels? What's the distribution strategy - for the hardware and/ or software? The stuff of fantasy. |

If it launched tomorrow, how many people here would truly buy it or torrent it?
Personally despite all the hassles and delays If I needed it, then I would BUY it. |

I personally wouldn't buy or download it. I have no real interest in the Amiga for anything more than fun and entertainment.

cant believe
Oh Man. I can hardly believe this shit I am reading.
the new hardware Samantha, blablabla. some CPU with 500MHz and an ATI Radeon Mobility M9 integrated graphic chip, with 64Mb ram DDR, and even some PCI Slots. Where can I order this State of the Art piece of hardware. I know this will be the revival of Amiga and beginning of it's World Domination. crushing Microsoft Intel and AMD alltogether ...as presented on Pianeta Amiga Is this some garage meeting of 3 guys and their dogs? cant be much more. sorry. this is just too funny to read. Amiga PS. guess I can throw my Intel Core2Duo (~6GHz) and GeForce 7900GT in the thrash this christmas PPS. Makes me wonder if I shouldn' label my old Pentium garbage machines "Amiga 2006" and sell it to some weirdos for OS4 usage. Last edited by guru64; 30 September 2006 at 22:44. |

I have no real interest in Windows for anything more than crashes, spywares and viruses. ;-)
