Unhappy Using the amiga forever files with the Linux verison of UAE

I have been trying to get the files from the amiga forver donwload edition to work with the Linux version of UAE. I was able to get the 1.3 bootdisk to work but I cannot get the 3.1 files to work.

Anyone know how to set them up or at least know where to point me to some setup directions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Joe

Can you be a little more specific with your problem? What's the console's output?

I moved your message, there is a forum for other UAEs as well..

Essentially, the console just opens up and then dones nothing. I tried setting it up the way that the amiga forever program set it up but that did not help.

I setup a work and system drive pointing to the work and system directories but that did not help either. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am using UAE 0.8.21 with gcc3.1.

Thanks

Joe

Hmm hold on let's make things easier. Try getting richard's Experimental UAE(are you using this? If not, do it)

Try to post your config file here. It's strange that typing ./uae doesn't output anything.

That would suggest to me that there's something wrong with configuration of your virtual hard drives in UAE. UAE is trying to boot from something . . . but cannot. Do you have permission to access the directory you are mounting as a drive?

Evilrich;
That is a good idea and was one I thought of myself. Unfortunately, after I made sure all the permissions where correct, it still would not work.
I am going to try Richard's experimental UAE and see if that helps. I have basically copied the amiga forever directories over and used them as they where set up in winuae with the appropiate directory changes.

With experimental uae you can nab a WinUAE config and use it. That's what I did with mine, grabbed a copy from my PC WinUAE config. Worked just fine after a few slight modifications.

*THAT* might be the bugger.

Might work with gcc 2.7.x, and if you're lucky, with gcc 2.8.x.
Various Linux distributions either do not recommend compiling stuff with gcc 3.x, warning the user at the same time that nothing might work afterwards.

You could try the latest version of GCC (3.3.3) and the latest version of exUAE...

The official UAE will build with GCC 2.95. I wouldn't recommend using an earlier version.

The isn't true of any reasonably recent distro. GCC 3.x is the default these days. Note, however, that the official UAE package won't compile on x86 with GCC 3.x without some modifications. (You have to disable the cpuopti phase.)
