The very idea of a couple of crappy scribbles on a computer being beneficial to anyone is laughable.

Should we now expect on e-bay many 'rare' Amiga computers with Warhol's signature?

The Amiga was created by a bunch of Americans. You think that was hyped too?

Why so much grief? The last Warhol went for $105m. We can all have an Amiga Warhol in 320x240 (200?) for free. I think that's just cool. I don't care if there is name dropping or trumpet blowing.

I mean... They did not put up the PNGs, but at least JPEGs.

I love the video when Andy does the flood fill. I wish I had been there. Bob Pariseau is just great hosting it.

Well. Easy to bash someone that's absent. What can I say? I assume we'd have known even better, but we weren't there. But they had good reliable tech and in the end... they got what they were looking for.

So... could be worse. Important piece of art, for art lovers and Amiga lovers. Win/win.
There's no bash here, they were not dealing with protected disk, far from here... Maybe it's like someone said just the usual american way of making it big when we know that it wasn't.

Your lack of grasp of the value of culture in general is laughable, nay, sad.

Ah, the discourse of art and its relevance to human life and culture... such relevance, much interest. I'm just afraid that this topic ends here and now. For the better of both sides.

tl;dr: Stop babbling about the relevance of art in this thread.

i did nothing here, we were just discussing about the over-hype which should not be about extracting files from standard amigaDOS disks.

Pouet comment by the actual people who restored the disks:
http://www.pouet.net/topic.php?which...page=1#c473285

It mentions pre-release Amiga software that I hope we all get eventually.
That should pique the interest of those not interested in the artwork restored.

Hope they correctly scaled color values from 12 to 24 bits for modern PNG file format...

JPEG can be lossless too, just not that widely used.
See: Lossless JPEG and JPEG-LS (not to mention lossless mode in JPEG2000)

Standard Jpg IS lossy, every time, no matter what you do, that's why I said so and if I was refering to JPG2000 I would have also said so.

JPEG2000 is completely different to JPG and I was not refering to this format at all.

Anyway, not having an argument about this

Or the modern hard disk. Hard disks are older than floppies
