CD32 Emulation Bug in WinUAE 0.8.25?

Hi,

CD32 emulation appears to be broken in WinUAE 0.8.25 (well at least for me anyway!)

Here are three CD32-related problems (bugs?) that I can reproduce every time:

1.
- Load attached "Amiga CD32" config into WinUAE
- Click "OK" with no CD in the drive and I just get a black screen with 0% CPU useage.
In the attached zip file, see "winuaelog1" and "winuaebootlog1" for this particular case.

2.
- Load attached "Amiga CD32" config into WinUAE
- Click "OK" and I just get a black screen with 0% CPU useage.
- Press "F12" and click reset.
- CD32 boot screen appears, all appears to be normal.
- Insert CD into drive, and just as the "32" starts spinning, WinUAE exits instantly.
In the attached zip file, see "winuaelog2" and "winuaebootlog2" for this particular case.

3.
- Load attached "Amiga CD32" config into WinUAE
- Click "OK" with a CD in the drive and I just get a black screen with 0% CPU useage.
In the attached zip file, see "winuaelog3" and "winuaebootlog3" for this particular case.

The config file was created in 0.8.25, it isn't left over from a previous version. My previous config files that worked in 0.8.23 don't work either (identical settings to the 0.8.25 config file).

Would be appreciated if people could confirm if this is a bug, or if it's just me! I've never had trouble with CD32 emulation working before though.

Steve.

Would also be hugely appreciated if somebody with a working CD32 config (basic CD32 spec, similar to my attached config) for WinUAE 0.8.25 could post it here as an attachment? Then I could test it with my setup, and compare the config files.

I forgot to mention in my first post that I have a "super-enhanced" 0.8.25 CD32 config (68040, 8MB Fast RAM, FDD's, HDD's) and it works perfectly. It's only when I select a basic unexpanded CD32 config (68EC020 and 2MB Chip etc. as in the attached file and as described in the WinUAE documentation) that I have the problems mentioned above.

CD32's extended ROM expects some specific timing, sometimes it freezes at black screen, sometimes boot tune is corrupted.. There is even CPU delay loop that fails on too fast CPU (but thats patched by WinUAE automatically)

@Thomas

Cheers for the file, I'll try it tonight after work!

Yes, I've noticed the corrupted boot tune too. Only happens occasionally though. Not heard it corrupted in 0.8.25 yet.

So it's a known issue then? The only reason that I posted the original problem was because my indentical WinUAE config worked fine in 0.8.23, so has something changed?

I don't want to sound like I'm complaining... WinUAE 0.8.25 is the best release yet for my A4000/AmigaOS3.9 config, in terms of both speed & stability. Would be fantastic to have CD32 emulation at the same level!

Right, I seem to have worked this out!

Using the cd32.uae config file from Thomas, I've narrowed the problem down to the "Misc Chipset Options" part of the "Chipset" tab. I'd ticked "Cycle Exact CPU and Blitter", whereas Thomas had chosen "Fast Copper". It was just this that was making the difference, it now works perfectly. I also tried ticking "Immediate Blitter" too, and it still works.

Funny though, because CD32 emulation has always worked for me up until now with "Cycle Exact CPU and Blitter" ticked.
