rsync with 2 drives
Hi,
I tried to use rsync for my Amiga. I tried to copy one drive to another drive drive like home: to test: but I am not able to do this with rsync. Unfortunately I didn't find any proper howto for sync one drive to another. Does anyone have a hint for me ? |

There is a Readme in this: http://aminet.net/package/util/misc/rsync-2.5.5_bin
Or use the manpage of your linux installation if you don't know how to use. In short: Code:
Usage: rsync [OPTION]... SRC [SRC]... DEST or rsync [OPTION]... SRC [SRC]... [USER@]HOST:DEST or rsync [OPTION]... SRC [SRC]... [USER@]HOST::DEST or rsync [OPTION]... SRC [SRC]... rsync://[USER@]HOST[:PORT]/DEST or rsync [OPTION]... [USER@]HOST:SRC [DEST] or rsync [OPTION]... [USER@]HOST::SRC [DEST] or rsync [OPTION]... rsync://[USER@]HOST[:PORT]/SRC [DEST] The ':' usages connect via remote shell, while '::' & 'rsync://' usages connect to an rsync daemon, and require SRC or DEST to start with a module name. |

Hello daxb,
I use rsync in Linux but even a very simple line like "rsync home: v4_transfer:" does not work. It shows me the help information again. Unfortunately I don't know what is the correct syntax to simple sync everything from home: to v4_transfer: BR Planetinfinity |

You may ask the author of rsync why it doesn't work as expected. Could be a bug or whatever. I never tried rsync on Amiga. However, if you can't get rsync to work I also would recommend using BackUp (via CLI or GUI). Works perfect here and does more or less the same as rsync.
