The Game Gear has a palette of 4096 colours like the Amiga, and can have 64 colours on screen at once, so I don't know…

Given that there's multiple shades of every color, I think EHB makes good sense in this context.

Revising a bit the Artwork would help; checking the arcade grab i see usually up to six colors for the trapped character in the bubble, we can go down to three or four unifying all shades in one black or very dark gray then keeping three shades of color for bubble and highlight - many colors could be common too (orange as darker of yellow, etc.).
Now, for the final levels star parallax, THAT might be an interesting puzzle to solve...

Apparently there's an unreleased game called "Battle Bowls" that might be interesting for anyone following this thread: https://www.gamesthatwerent.com/2021/01/battle-bowls/ (not in HOL btw)

Bubble heroes Was quiet good. I think it can be made on OCS too.

Like Foebane told us:

Arrow rotation at full 50fps
Fired ball into cluster at full 50fps
Falling balls at 25fps or even 12 for larger numbers

Maybe, with an highly optimized background, where balls lays we can shoot for more colors and better fps

I've already shown it's easily possible for a good clone in this post but to add more fuel to the fire, here's video of a C64 port: [ Show youtube player ]

Definitely looks like an epic C64 version of the game. But of course Amigans like their games to be a little more Arcade-perfect

Well is a bit necro but for me Amiga was a WORKstation, i did use my 1200 for 3d renderings, animation, presentations, game graphics, DTP, music making, word processing, spreadsheets (using shapeshifter of course) so definitely not just a games machine!

And by the way if even the Atari XL got a decent looking port then is indeed feasible!

That version does what Galahad proposed a long time ago; don't make the bubbles drop, just use a simple disappear animation.

I like the compromise that the earlier C64 version does; it uses a disappear animation but then also makes stars drop down afterwards.
