I just had it because it was included in the cost of my GSuite Enterprise account, which is now being migrated to Google Workspace with much worse storage solutions.
After killing the competition and reaching monopoly, or at least some kind of cartel style deal with a few big players, they start increasing the prices, this seems to be a common trend.

Remember when Google started Gmail? Most companies back then charged around 20 USD per year for an email account with 50mb mailbox storage, then Gmail started out with 1GB for free* (which was a lot of space at the time). This is part of the strategy to kill the competition until you as a customer run out of options, then they change the terms or price.

*) Free as in no charge, but they can read your email and do what they want with the data, like selling it to advertisers, that's the price.

The same strategy seem to be true for the cloud space racket, as companies get rid of their own server infrastructure they are now stuck with fewer and more expensive options.

Lesson learned; run services on your own servers if you want control.

By the way, one simple question: I'm looking for hard drive versions of Amiga games in french language. Do you have some of those on your FTP? Thanks.

You only need 50 posts to create your own upload account. You are free to check it out with the anonymous account. No restrictions to it anymore, except for a "dont try and download the whole FTP" check =)

I found another cloud storage solution with unlimited storage. Speed goes down after 5TB apparently but lets give it a shot. I really want that off site backup with daily syncs and the ability to share the contents as a backup to you guys.

https://www.jottacloud.com

I'll share the link once the FTP is synced.

Edit: Actually, you can have the link now even though its far from finished if you want to give some feedback: https://www.jottacloud.com/s/3010658...0b40370/thumbs

The backup to Jottacloud is now complete, so now we once again have a place to reach it all if you want/need =)

https://www.jottacloud.com/s/3010658...0b40370/thumbs

This, unlike the old Google Drive (which is now gone) is dedicated to the TURRAN FTP and comes out of my own pocket. Existing flow of donations should just about cover it though, going forward.

Just found out that the Jottacloud service only shows 1000 files in a shared folder from the web, so you won't see all files when browsing, for example, the TOSEC folders containing more than that.

That is a major dealbreaker so looking for another cloud solution again and cancelling Jottacloud probably, unless they find a workaround.

Feels like it, yeah =) But its 10x faster than google drive ever was, so its better in that respect. The sharing function is severly lacking though. Can't even change the sorting (date/name etc) with it.

Tested Backblaze just now as well but it has no way to share a large folder like we want so giving up on that trial as well.

Since we now have a limit on the downloads possible from HTTP/HTTPS, I've decided to test browsing the FTP from here as well: https://grandis.nu/turran/FTP

Take note of the limit of files downloadable so you don't get banned by mistake.

Number of files allowed to be downloaded from https://grandis.nu/turran/FTP and https://grandis.nu/turransearch increased from 150 to 500 in the last 7 days.
Max size remains at 20 GiB.
This is not a weekly limit. It is actually the past 7 days from right now.

I felt that 150 files was a bit low. With 500, the "normal" user should be able to get what they want without worrying to much while still blocking the leeching bots.

The fine-tuning continues for the web downloads =)

GiB limit increased from 20 to 30. Otherwise, if you download /Pimiga/PiMiga2x64.7z which is 22GiB it would be an instant ban. Sorry to whoever got hit with that. I've released your ban.

Also, it now only counts files that have not already been downloaded by you in the past 5 minutes.
In other words, if you click on a file and then, within 5 minutes, click it again, it will only count once. The person who downloaded /Pimiga/PiMiga2x64.7z probably clicked it twice between 20 seconds and got hit with 44GiB download =)

Edit: Another change. Not all files count towards the limit. Currently excluded from limit are .jpg .gif .png .css .htm .html .cgi .txt
I'll add more as I find them being a problem. It was not fun clicking on a html file which loaded 50 images and getting "51 files downloaded"...

Again, I'm trying to trim this so that it will not affect your everyday Amiga fan in any way but make life harder for the bots/hoarders.

You're welcome =) Funny how Google changing their pricing/policys kickstarts a lot of changes.

Changed search at https://grandis.nu/turransearch a little.

If it finds a directory, it was previously not clickable. Now it will go to https://grandis.nu/FTP and display the contents of that folder if you click on it.

Also, if you were using https, it previously went to http when you downloaded a file. It will now stay with https or http, depending on which you're using at the moment.

Changed the colors of the results when searching. Not sure if I like it yet. I use the same colors when clicking links here as when browsing the FTP to make it consistent but the light blue made it hard to read.

The information on your download limit when searching was moved to a header "box", instead of at the bottom, to look the same as when browsing, to make it more consistent.

In the results page, when it finds a file, the size of the file in () is now a link to go to the folder the file is in. Requires HTTP Links to be enabled on the main search page of course. So clicking on the file will download it directly and clicking the "(displayed size)" takes you to the directory it was found in.

How to succesfully burn the complete image of Dangerous Streets & Wing Commander, with audio tracks correct..!?
I 'm having serious problems with this one.
Already 2 coasters.
No hope with Xfburn on ( old) Linux.
Just tried with K3b ; but it didn't recognize / accept the image.
Maybe the cue sheet is incorrect..?!?

Not quite the correct thread for this. This thread is about accessing the TURRAN FTP server.
