I had to raid the pub yesterday and I didn't pull my nose out until dusk. Okay, it costed me 9 beers, but still better than evaporation.

Yeah I'm not with Thorham, I'm Dutch and I'm not built for heat Last Tuesday I had to take off because that day I was completely worthless at 40+ degrees celsius. I just sat behind my computer feeling sorry for myself with my feet in a tub of cold water the entire day (not an air conditioner but a body conditioner, cheap alternative).

Luckily so far such days are incidental. Today it rained and now it is nice and cool.

After couple of hot humid days in NYC, back home. Hot and humid, but nothing to compare to NYC. (especially subway stations, most not cooled)

At home and at work AC is working all day. Love them, but not lovin' electricity bill.

2 years ago we purchased kind a big pool, so getting cooled with cold drink and floating whenever I got a chance.

I'm an not envious of the time period you picked to go to New York, but I am envious that you are close enough to make the trip

If youre finding the heat too much and want to do some Amiga emulation there's plenty of options.
Downclock and undervolt your cpu and gpu, or even just use your phone in desktop mode with a monitor, mouse, keyboard and joystick/joypad.
Personally Im envious. I miss the nice weather you guys are having. Middle of winter and having to deal with 15c-ish days.
I dont like the cold.

I know this was some time ago when it wasn't aging hardware but I used to run my A1200 from 1992 till 2000 at least 8 hours a day and in the summertime at times in 44°c heat but on the average 38 to 40°c constantly and later in 1996 with my Blizzard 1230 MkIV.

Had the A500 too prior to the 1200, it copped a hammering with the heat too. I never lived in a place with an Air Conditioner till 2014.

Machine is still going strong today, fully recapped though.

Guess if I ever want to visit Australia, I should go in the winter. Eh. The Australian winter. Because 15 degree weather in winter time sounds awesome to me.

Hmmm... yes and no, don't come to Melbourne these days, the summers are no longer as hot and it got to 0°c last night (it is Winter here though). Go to Sydney or Brisbane.

The Summers in Melbourne used to be "extremely" hot, now they are just "warm", when I say warm I say around 32°

During the day currently, it's around 10 to 15°

@Gimbal

It feels colder than that, even if the thermostat says ~15c.
There's a real icy feel to the wind.
Last few days have been a bit more tolerable though. Clear skies, calm winds, and the sun has been out.
Big country though, Im sure other Australians are having a completely different winter.
Some parts seldom drop below 25-30c even in winter, others have snow, but I suspect what Im experiencing if about the average

Anyway, I'll leave it at that; don't want to hijack the thread or turn it into any sort of "my country is hotter/colder/has more pineapples/has larger nose hairs/etc. than yours" type thread.
People cope better with what theyre used to, so if others are finding weather conditions difficult then they have my sympathy.

Back in the day I had a A1200 with a Viper Mk V 68030/50. It'd get a bit unstable in the middle of the British summer. My dad cut a hole in the desk so I could cool it with a desk fan from underneath.

Well it worked! I think we still have that desk somewhere, hole and all.

I hope everyone here is managing to keep cool with this weather and you are well hydrated too.
I only have a projector for my PC now and a Plasma TV (it's like a radiator!!) so no more cool running LCDs left. During the 40 degree two day period I had my A1000 on for a bit but the 1084D kicks out a fair bit of heat, more than the miggy.

Yes to real hardware, yes to air-con unit for a few hundred quid is the best
