Alien Fires 2199 A.D.
Anyone ever actually beat this game? I haven't played it recently, but i have reached the second level multiple times and i think the 3rd level only a couple times.

No, but it's on my imminent "to do" list. Great game and an early Amiga/ST original one to boot.

Just added the manual for the game to HOL: https://hol.abime.net/3495/manual
Maybe there's something in there that can help beating the game. |

Thanks for the manual. Haven't touched this game at all in years, and not sure that i will. Most of what was in that manual i'd already discovered one way or another. But the fact you can shorten the into, and that the game can make use of extended memory is interesting.

Yep, I beat it.
For the longest time I had hazy memories of a game with digitized fuzzy music and say-style talking. Eventually I found out the name of the game, and gave it a go. It didn't make any sense, but it still kind of piqued my interest. It's been a couple of years, but I took it upon myself to beat the game. If I recall correctly, I found a walkthrough on the net somewhere and used WinUAE save states very generously. It's really easy to get your ass whooped in fights and navigating the pseudo-3D corridors is really confusing. But once you're somewhat settled in the world and have some sort of inkling of what you're supposed to do, it can be manageable. Talking with other characters works surprisingly well, and there's even some humor to be found in the conversations. It's a one-of-a-kind kind of game, and with good reason. But it still has its own charm and mood. |
