I bought one of these from this chap a while back!

It is well made and does the job. I am planning to shoe-horn it into an external project case and knock up an external lead maybe.

Looks nice and neat, I could use something like this for a new external floppy drive and Mounty has been honest by saying "Please note that not all ADF files will boot from Df1: as some are programmed to boot from Df0: only."

Can I ask what you use an external device for?

Why not use a regular external drive? It should have all the electronics and the case. Just swap the old FDD for the Gotek?

AFAIR it is easy to make an A500 think the external drive is df0 isn't it? one jumper/solder?

Tbh I really dont know what use it will be for!

Just for the sake of making an Gotek external as DF1 and then filling it with my old music disks. I can then move the thing around to other amigas.

Amiga users are now getting spoilt for choice on methods of moving files around

I did actually plan that at first! I have one sitting around here but for some reason I decided to put a floppy drive back in it. I then stumbled upon the guts of an external drive which would be good to use. So now I have a few options only needing a decent suitable case.

If not I may just stuff a gotek into an a500. I just read something on the forum about having an gotek and original internal drive in the a500, then with a switch enabling selection of which device becomes df0

Just swap the selects at the CIA. Very easy in the A500 by making the swapper circuit between two chip sockets that go between the mobo and the CIA. :-)
