Your Favourite Amiga Games?

Back in the day, I played a few Amiga games in the first few months of my Amiga 500 ownership but got sucked into the Demoscene, but I was still young and a gamer back then, so I also played certain games that interested me.

Some of these I played on my Atari ST 520STFM before I got the A500, but I think they still count as they are identical in most ways. So without further ado, these are the games I played on my Amiga 500 that I remember from A-Z, there may be more to add later:

Battle Command
Carrier Command
Damocles
E-Motion
Formula One Grand Prix
Frontier
Gauntlet 2
Gem'X
Scrabble
Shadow of the Beast
Shadow of the Beast 2
Shadow of the Beast 3
Shufflepuck Cafe
Stunt Car Racer
Super Twintris
Vaxine

As I've said elsewhere, I'm not really a fan of arcade-style shooters nor cartoony platform games, so this is really quite an eclectic list, I think.

Funny thing is, ever since I went to PC gaming, I haven't felt the desire to add new games to my collection. But these are games I played and enjoyed back in the day, so...

What are your favourite Amiga games from back in the day?

well... the 5 games I mentioned in this recent similar thread.

http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=...0&postcount=15

But that was only a limit of 5, so a list of 10 would be:
  1. Valhalla 2
  2. Super Cars 2
  3. Gods
  4. Dynamite Dux (in the top 5 because of coop play)
  5. Captive
  6. the Chaos Engine
  7. Dungeon Master
  8. Chuck Rock
  9. Utopia
  10. Space Quest 3

Based purely off of how much time I sunk into playing the games and never got tired of it. A nice varied list, that's what the Amiga was good for No Cannon Fodder for me in the top 10. Even though I liked the game it was just a tad too unforgiving for me to really get proper enjoyment out of it.

There are many favourite games on the Amiga but Moonstone is my top favourite game on this platform.

This original version crashed all the time (most of the time when the dragon attacks) but i still love it Finished the game with the cracked version. Last time a few weeks ago

Escape from Colditz, really. You don't see that every day. That game kicked my butt, I'm just not organized enough to pull off something like that game wants you to do. Plus I always got lost in the many identical corridors and stairways. Claustrophobic to say the least.

Haha, I never escaped without cheating, but I loved the concept of the game and detail they put into the layout was great.

A friend had the board game that the Amiga game was based on, and I found my father had the books that the board game was based on - became bit of an obsession of mine, learning all I could about Colditz during the war etc. I knew the layout like the back of my hand.

I love games that let you explore and don't lock (no pun intended) you into a single path.

Defender of the Crown - one of the first games I played. Completely MAGICAL experience for teenage eyes when it first came out. Truly a pinnacle demo of what the Amiga can be, despite any flaws.

Three Stooges - Just hilarious

It Came From the Desert - I love B movie horrors next to gaming equally.

Shadow of the Beast - what can I say? One of the best action games on any platform.

Really needs a full remake with today's technology. I want to see at least a modern GZDoom or Build Engine remake.

Lotus Espirit 2 - we hooked up our 1000 + 3000 together and invited all of our friends over to play over null modem. We played it so much we broke a few controllers among all of us!

Someone is making an ATARI STE version of the first one that is near Amiga or better?! I cannot wait to try to link up Hatari and WinUEA on my PC for 4 players again!!! Already did it with 2x WINUAE which was awesome.

[ Show youtube player ]

Eye of the Beholder - I came from RPG so I played the crap out of this. I never finished EOB 3 on the PC, so I will need to rerun the entire series again to bring the full squad from level 0 all the way through. I wish ScummVM would be able to play EOB 3 and Dungeon Hack.

Rainbow Islands - one of the best arcade ports for the Amiga. Still a shining example of near Arcade Perfect.

Alien Breed in coop mode - we also played a ton of Alien Syndrome at the arcades before it came out for home format.

Marble Madness - ALMOST arcade perfect port. I played the hell out of this in the arcades.

Funny thing was I actually played most Sierra, LucasArts and adventure games on my PC. I need a PC to do work (Lotus 123) but my Amiga was THE arcade platform until Duke Nukem and Quake came out. Then I switched to full PC for 3D action.

First, I am bit confused if this is completed amiga games topic or favorite amiga games list. I am sure we had tons of either one already...

A hard question.... I mainly do "serious" stuff on Amigas, but have been getting into games a bit lately. My faves in no particular order:

Apidya
Turrican
Syndicate
Wiz 'n' Liz
James pond 2: RoboCod
Banshee
Cannon Fodder
Deluxe Galaga
Megaball
Theatre of Death

And others... Hmmm, I guess I do play a lot of games after all, lol .

With good reason, there is absolutely nothing static about either list.

Theatre of Death I need to put on my todo list, it was too late in the Amiga's lifecycle for me to play more than a demo of it. But I do remember playing that demo over and over again for being really addictive.
