ToolsMenu in S:User-Startup

Hello,

I have the ToolsMenu app (http://aminet.net/package/util/cdity/ToolsMenu) installed in the DH0:Tools/Commodities folder on my A1200 and I can launch the app from Workbench or CLI and it works okay. But when I try to launch the app from the startup sequence by adding the line:

Run >NIL: DH0:Tools/Commodities/ToolsMenu CX_POPUP=NO

to the end of my S:User-Startup script the app does not appear under the Workbench Tools menu and the process is not listed by the CLI "status" command.

I have tried using the DELAY=5 option as suggested in the README but this does not help.

Does anyone have a solution?

Cheers
Pierre

I have tested and it works, check if in the user-startup you have written well the command, maybe some wrong space or letter !

Why don’t you put it in your WBStartup folder? Is there a specific reason?

I had the same thought, which is why I copy-pasted the command line from the S:User-Startup script in the shell and it worked okay.

I have tried that but it causes a window to pop up saying "Program 'ToolsMenu' has not yet returned. Should I wait some more?"

Just add the DONOTWAIT in the icon’s tooltypes

DONOTWAIT seems to be unnecessary for this program, if the problem Popup you have to enable in the "Tooltype Icon" the command "CX_POPUP=NO" without the parenthesis

I had removed the parenthesis from around CX_POPUP=NO in the icon which did stop the normal ToolsMenu window appearing but it did not stop the new Workbench popup saying "Program 'ToolsMenu' has not yet returned. Should I wait some more?"

OK dumb confession time.

I got the ToolsMenu app to launch okay by moving the command to after C:LoadWB in the S:Startup-Sequence. Then when I checked the app version it was ToolsMenu version 1.9.1 and not the latest 1.10.2

I then installed version 1.10.2 and now the command:
Run >NIL: DH0:Tools/Commodities/ToolsMenu CX_POPUP=NO
works from S:User-Startup

Thank you to everyone who helped and apologies for my stupidity.

I've been there. Glad it's working for you!

I'm also a fan of ToolsMenu, especially after Tools Daemon (Nico Francois) was showing its age--had a very nice GUI though!
