Why? Temporary or permanent solution?

A1200 has a membrane connector and no keyboard controller.
A500 has built in controller and a cable that connects to Amiga.

If you have the 500 controller board you can insert the membrane connector of the 1200 into the keyboard controller of the 500. The membrane connectors both match.

Looks like Checkmate comes with the controller board, so the A1200 keyboard should work. Like in this video.

Correction, looks like you need to get the PCB separately?

Can you take a picture of your keyboard that you want to convert?

Couldnt you use a keyrah to make the keyboard into USB and then an adapter on the a500 to allow it to connect? (effectively do what you would do if you were building the checkmate with an a1200.)

It doesn't matter much in this application. The controller board doesn't have to sit in its original place.

The only caveat here is the power and drive LEDs, which can be desoldered and put behind wires, then hot glued to the top case.

I said that, because at first, he said that he wants to use it in A500.

I do have a spare A500 kbrd controller for Mitsumi kbrds.

Yeah, I read the whole discussion now.

The A1200 keyboard + A500 controller should still fit ok in the checkmate keyboard case, apart from the LEDs. :-)
