GamesMaster to Return
Just read on the British newspaper The Sun that GamesMaster is making a comeback.
It will return first in a social form on E4's (Freeview channel) YouTube page later this year, before airing on the channel itself. States no confirmation who will host following in the footsteps of Dominik Diamond and Dexter Fletcher. Surprised TV has not jumped on the gaming bandwagon really considering its big business now. The original GM was ok, bit too console focused for me, but watchable. |

Sod that, I prefer the old episodes (and Bad Influence, too).
The GM Gore Special was event TV, but it wouldn't be the same now. I hate modern games, with the emphasis on lootboxes, open world and microtransactions. |

GamesMaster was of its time, and it shouldn't return in a similar format. It should be something entirely different.
I get fed up to the back teeth of old famous IPs being resurrected for new audiences that simply don't appreciate or understand them, and then failing as a result. Don't these creative types have a creative bone in their bodies anymore? |

Nice, i am also surprised why they do not have more gaming/computer content from the traditional tv stations! Btw: We had one legendary computer show in Norway, but that was back in the mid 90s (Spider)

Heh. Im more old skool. I preferred the BBC computing series..all talk about how the system bus works and data storage. That was proper geek building material.
None of this games malarkey. To be fair, the original GM series passed me by. I was reading computer games reviews on Ceefax and in Zzap!64/C&VG magazines instead. (And typing out those looong listings, hence the lack of childrens TV viewing!) Will be interesting to see how this series turns out. |

I absolutely hated that show with a fucking passion.
That other one they brought on a few years ago too with the Irish fella and the semi-attractive geeky looking lass who churned out shite gaming trivia was equally as worthless as games master. |

Romesh as presenter is a good shout, also Richard Ayoade. Did a great job of Crystal Maze and has near the same sarcasm levels as Diamond.

I quite enjoyed Gamesmaster back in the day, it was mega cheesy but that added to the charm, plus other that it there was really only Bad Influence so there weren't many tv shows showing decent games.

Anyone of a certain age - mid 40s really....will remember First Class quiz show with Debbie Greenwood (phwooooar)
Used to play the arcade versions of 720, Hyper Sports and Paperboy in it (was amazed at the graphics) plus general knowledge quiz questions. |

Not all - he is hetrosexual!
As you I did not think would be an old, white, straight guy (old, male and pale as they say) I actually thought they may have gone for a woman - someone annoying like Sarah Millican (cannot stand her) or Dawn French (also not funny) However the choice is ok I suppose. Gone for an older celeb who is held in high regard, kinnda like Patrick Moore was. Brian Blessed I think would have been a good choice with his booming voice - GORDON's ALIVE???!?!?!?! |
